Simple, easy to install, works great
Ah, if only everything in life were so simple. I have a ceiling fan in my gabled ceiling office and when it was installed they used a switch with 3 positions for the fan and a simple on/off for the light. Neither bothered me a lot but I definitely would have preferred to be able to dim the light and the fan speeds seemed to be "too fast", "much too fast" and "way too fast". I saw this switch and at a selling price of only about $16 thought I would give it a try.I like the look, it is more pleasing than the old-school slider of my old switch. The light control is an ultra-simple rotary control ... click, turn to desired brightness, turn back to click off. Sure I would have preferred a push on/push off switch but it wasn't a deal-breaker because I rarely set the light to the same brightness twice. The rotary fan speed switch is similar. From off you go through the fastest speed down to the slowest speed. That may seem a bit counter-intuitive at first but in use it makes sense. Trust me. This switch has 4 fan speeds and they are not the same as my old switch. That is a good thing. The slowest speed is slower than I am used to, kind of like a lazy air mover that is ultra-silent. The next fastest speed is what I would consider the default normal speed, just slightly slower than my old switch. The third position is fast without vibrating the whole room and finally the fastest speed is even faster than "way too fast", which is nice for a quick cool-down or to clear the air.Installation was almost instant, all I did was mimic the old wiring. Do be sure you have a 3-wire system or you can't use this switch. From what I understand that is a pretty standard way to pre-wire a house to accommodate a fan. The switch is not overly large but larger than a standard on/off switch so I had to stuff the wires into the box a bit creatively. The switch fits a standard Decora-type wall plate. It took me about 15 minutes to install and I love it. As far as switches go (especially specialty switches for ceiling fans) the price is very much at the low end.

Great In-wall controls for your Ceiling Fan/light combo..
I am not an electrician but installing these were straightforward being that I was replacing some crappy sliding dimmer controls that were falling apart/cracking breaking. So be glad you stumbled on this page to find these controls because they look good, work good and hopefully (fingers crossed) will last a long time. Being that they are knobs, I will be stocking up on some knobs as soon as I can. These are definitely cheaper than those vertical sliding dimmers and look good on your wall too.

Good swich
Great switch. Allows me to use only one gang to control ceiling fan and lighting fixture. Works well. The only caveat is that the control is analog so if you stick the bottom dial between two settings the fan will just stop. Also the dimmer isn't particularly sensitive so you have to turn it to about 1/2 way up and then down to get low dim but still works relatively well. The issue with the dimmer may also be due to the light bulb reaction thresholds.

Easy to install, great price.
Great product. Works like a charm on the Harbor breeze fans that I installed. Like the four settings. Works with LED dimmable lamps. Best to turn highest level for light then lower for the dimmer to work best. Wire colors may not match, but the simple guide. Will wait and see if they last longer than the Hunter Fan slide switches.

Good overall, but the knob for the lights could work a bit better
I needed a dimmer that could control a fan's speed and dim the lights. There weren't all that many that fit the bill and I chose this one based on a combination of the reviews and the price.Overall, I'm satisfied. I'd never installed a dimmer before and I was able to install this without issue after watching a how-to video. It comes with all the parts you need, including wire nuts (which I wasn't expecting and had already bought separately). My only complaint is regarding the light knob. You have to turn it too far before the lights start coming on. I wish the light knob worked like the fan, which has five different positions, all of which do something. Instead, the light knob turns smoothly with no fixed positions (besides "off"). As it is, once I start turning the light knob on, I have to get roughly 1/3 of the way between "off" and the brightest setting before the lights come on at all. And this is with incandescent lights. Also, I tried it with dimmable LED bulbs Philips 435453 40 Watt Equivalent A15 Medium / Standard Base Dimmable LED Light Bulb, Soft White. With them, I had to turn the light knob to about the halfway point before they turned on, but it didn't matter, because the bulbs also flickered, so I couldn't use them. However, this dimmer isn't advertised for LED dimming and it might still work with different LED bulbs, so I'm not deducting anything for this. Just be aware, it might not work well for dimming LEDs.
