Works Great
I took a chance ordering this. Exercise equipment dealers have told me that this type of weight-powered stairmill wouldn’t work for a lightweight user. Since my wife weighs in at just over a hundred pounds, if they were right, we’d have to ship it back. (I don’t want to even THINK about putting this thing back in the box!) I’m happy to say that they were wrong…. It works perfectly for both of us! It’s quite compact for this type of device and fits easily in our (8ft. Ceiling) garage. We live in Michigan and spend winters in Florida. Our Michigan house has stairs and the Florida one doesn’t. We got this for Florida so we could “stay in shape “ for the rigors of stair climbing when we get back to Michigan…. Use it or lose it! The Aspen unit is just right for this. The user interface is quick and simple so you can jump on and do a couple of flights five or six times a day to simulate living in a multi story house. So far, we’ve been using it for a couple of months and are very happy with it.

Please do not buy this piece of junk!!!
The wheels continue to disintegrate on this stairmill. I have torn apart this thing multiple times to replace the wheels and now I'm out of wheels. Please give me my money back. This only lasted a few months before I has to started experiencing this wheel failure issue.

It's Good; It's Not Great
BLUF: It's a good home stepmill if you don't take stairmastering too seriously. This stairmaster is good for home use but it really doesn't compare to Stairmaster brand; you can get a lot more Stairmaster for a little bit more money.Positives:The size: just about perfect size for home use. Any bigger and it would be cumbersome; any smaller and you'd feel cramped while using it. I am 5'9", and I use it in a room with 8'6" ceilings and there is plenty of clearance. The steps are plenty big enough to take normal strides without feeling like your going to fall off.Negatives:Too slow: 120 steps per minute max; I wish the top speed was about 25% faster so that I can do interval sprints. 120 steps per minute is still pretty fast, so you can still get a great workout.Adjusting the speed: It is easy to increase the speed as quickly as you like. However, the machine has a problem with reducing speed. Say you're going 110 steps per minute and you want to reduce the speed to 100 steps per minute; you can't simply press the down button ten times; you'll stay at 110 steps per minute. Rather you have to press the down button once, wait several seconds until the pace monitor registers 109, and continue this slow and tedious process until you get to the desired speed.Step lock: this is intended as a safety feature, but it makes the machine less safe. If you have the step lock on, and you get too low ok the steps, your feet will trigger the beam and the machine will stop. Just an instant dead stop. It's jarring and unexpected. This "safety" feature is also unnecessary because the machine stops running once you step off of it.Pulse monitor: Doesn't work; it never registers above 75 bpm
