True Western History
Very factual book on the history of an almost unknown Arizona Law Officer. Most of the photos in this book are previously unpublished. On the cover and inside the book is a photo of the subject of the book wearing a holster you would only see in the movies. As far as I know and have read in western history authors books the only known photo of this type holster. On the belt he has both rifle and pistol cartridges. The pistol holster hanging way down on his leg. In the real west and in just about every picture I have ever seen the pistol is high up level with the belt. The authors desciption of the gun battle with the wanted men has the ring of truth that this is the way it probably happened.

Outstanding Story
Wonderful story of one of the most iconic Arizona lawmen. Grasse fills in the gaps of his little known life and activities. Considerable information and photos were provided by Commodore Perry's descendants. This is a great addition to your western library with endorsements from some of the most well known and prestigious western authors. As an aside I would like to thank Mr. Grasse for his law enforcement service.

Good read on a largely unknown character of frontier Arizona
Good read on a largely unknown character of frontier Arizona. Well researched with good references. A good view of the politics and lawmen's work in Arizona during this period. A little dry at times but, not everyone's life (like most of us) is filled with constant excitement and danger.

Family history
This book is about my great, great, great uncle. I don't read much, but this has been awesome to read about him since the family doesn't have much on him.

"Smile When You Say That.." The real thing.
Bought this at the Zane Grey Museum in Payson, Arizona. It was expensive, but proved to be one of the best Biography's I have read in decades. The painstaking research put in to this volume is mind numbing. I'm all about C. P. Owens now. Stack him up against the Earp's or Wild Bill. Recommend to any Arizona History buff, Wild West History enthusiast, or late Victorian era America crime aficionado Owens was a real American Hero..

Man of his times.
It was confusing at times to read because legends were mixed in with facts.
