Sorry for the length of this review, but I want to make sure you know just why I think this Interchangeable Crochet Package AND Yarnmania is so FANTASTICI've tried interchangeable hooks and especially wanted a lighted one, so I've probably tested more than the average "crochet-aholic" but none of them addressed my preferences: 1) I hate plastic hooks, 2) I prefer "boye" style hook tips, which are nearly impossible to find in interchangeables, 3) a lot of the interchangeables lose their connection when crocheting, 4) Every lighted hook I tried was too bright, even at lower settings (my eyes don't adapt to light changes so, every time I look up or down, I have to pause and wait for my eyes to refocus,) and 5) after two carpal tunnel surgeries, I really need an ergonomic handle.Well, NO MORE HUNTING FOR THE PERFECT HOOK for me!!! Before ordering this one, I emailed the manufacturer twice with my concerns... both times they responded within 24 hours. I ordered and (Murphy's Law) received one where I couldn't get the inserts to seat properly. Back to emailing through Amazon and FAST responses. They requested my phone # and good times to call and also gave me their number. Murphy's Law struck again and we had a 4-day power outage where I had no phone or computer!!! I received a call from them within 6 hours of restored power from an EXTREMELY POLITE and COURTEOUS gentleman at Yarnmania who, after asking a few questions, assured me I would have a new COMPLETE package (I was only asking for the handle) in about a week, so I now have TWO sets of hooks and one handle that works PERFECTLY. Incidentally the light, although not adjustable, works GREAT with my eyes, probably because it shines down the hook rather than shining through.Would I purchase this item again? You'd better believe the answer it YES... and I'll also be looking at anything else Yarnmania makes!

I ordered this on Saturday and received today, Christmas Eve. I am so in love with the feel and the light. Great for dark yarn and low light.I really like the fact that this is USB charged. The light stays on and does not dim after 5 hours of being in use.One draw back is I wish the hook was a titch shorter.Smooth and does not catch the yarn and since it is not plastic, it doesn't bend.

I liked the fact the light projected out toward yarn and not just tip of needle like others. The metal and not plastic hooks is nice too. I have 2 problems with this product. 1: there are NO instructions. 2: I cannot get the hooks to line up with the grip i use for hooking. I am a knife hold crocheter. All spots are in between so handle is not where it needs to be. I will have to get acclimated with this hook not being where I need it.

My mother-in-law loves to crochet, but I see her struggling with her needles whenever she has pain in her hands. I found these and thought I would see if they might help since the handles appear to be ergonomic and thicker so that it's easier to hold. I gave them to her over the weekend and she mentioned how she really liked how they felt in her hand, and how comfortable they felt. She wasn't sure about the light, but I told her that they should help her see things better when she uses darker yarn, so she said she would give it a try. Overall, these seem to work a lot better for her, allowing her to crochet easily. I also like that all of the different sized needles are easy to swap and everything comes in a convenient zippered pouch.

Love these LED hooks! It seems that the older I get it is harder to see when I crochet. These hooks are awesome! I love the ergonomic handle,as well. It's comfortable any way I hold the hook. The light is just right to see your stitches. Not sure how long the charge last yet, but was worth it. The price was quite reasonable for the metal hooks, most of the others were plastic that I looked at. I would definitely recommend these hooks!

Edited to reflect my experience with the company representatives, after being contacted. If you have any issues make sure to check Facebook, I had put in the right name Yarn Mania, in the search bar, but the one I clicked on had a picture of the round case with the Christmas graphic. That is not the correct one. The moment I sent a message to the legitimate site, I had a response. While they were looking my issue over, I just happened to pick up the hook, one more time and instead of holding the wrench at the handle, I choked up on it at the top of the wrench and the hook head came right off! So the only thing I would say, is the wrench is not the best, but the overall product and customer service got the review it deserved.I have never given a bad review, of what potentially seems like a really nice product. I received my set, on Saturday, it arrived in a timely fashion and I love the case and the organization of the accessories is all really nice. However, I had never used the "swing" style handle before and when I went to place on the 5.5 mm hook, I could find the exact position, of the hook, that I am used to crocheting--with finger tightening, so I then proceeded to use the little plastic wrench to shift it a tad more. When I realized how the angle of the swing style handle was going to effect the hook placement, I tried to loosen the head with my fingers, no luck. I then got out the wrench and carefully tried to loosen, again, no luck! I tried both directions, thinking maybe it is the opposite torque, no luck.I am not Hercules, I have arthritis, so for me to get something stuck where I cannot budge it is an amazing feat! I am also sorely frustrated! I noticed that a Facebook website was listed, so I immediately left a message asking for help (one of the categories for messaging). I realize that I left the message on Saturday evening, I was hoping for a weekend response, but was accepting of the fact there might not be one. But, when Monday rolled around and no response and now it being Tuesday morning, and there is an email from Amazon, wanting me to rate the seller/transaction, I decided to bring my review here. Either, I need to know what the heck I can do to remove the hook (an alternate to the plastic wrench that I am afraid will break) or something! I was really looking forward to being able to use these in a lower light situation. I surely would like to be able to change my rating, I don't like leaving negative feedback.

I was so looking forward to my ‘new kit’ arriving. Last week I had bought my Sister the plastic light up type kit on Amazon. Having tried the plastic tips I saw this one had aluminium hooks, so thought they might be better than plastic. I was very disappointed when this kit arrived...inside was a cheap zip up case with stitch markers etc in. Due to the case being placed inside it had distorted the original set (as if it should never have been inside) it has also marked the interior see photo of the pink lining of the case. However I decided it was only a case so preceded to try it. Having tried the cheaper set with plastic light up hooks last week however I found the light didnt really help at all, whereas the plastic type the light is right in your stitch. On inspection of the hooks I noticed that the 6.5mm hook had been scratched..I suspect again the packing of the cheaper one inside has damaged the hook, so now the hook doesn’t glide through the yarn. This finally made my decision to return the kit and has this item is now out of stock anyway order the plastic set like I bought for my Sister.Very disappointed as I love my knitting crochet items and look after them like a workman with his tools. To the seller I believe the cheap set inside has indeed caused much of this disappointment and would advise packing the tacky other case separately as it cheapens your product. In picture two you will be able to see the scratch on the 6.5mm hook.

Absolutely superb and worth every penny. My arthritic hands no longer hurt whilst crotcheting and I can change the way I hold it depending on how sore they are. The covering of the handle is easy to hold and doesn't slip around and the heads of the hooks are pointy enough to find the spaces in the crochet without splitting the yarn. The 2 light options are perfect and positioned exactly right to shine just on your work yet not dazzle you. The two brightness options mean I can crochet in complete darkness if I don't sleep well and don't disturb my husband. The added extras have everything you could need. Customer service is superb. This is my 3rd set of crochet hooks and by far the best! Even bought a set for my friend whose hands have been badly deformed because of arthritis. Can't recommend this product enough.

I bought this kit after the frustration caused trying to join to navy blue pieces of crochet together but sadly this gadget didn’t really help. I am sure it would be ok for straight crocheting. A very good idea in theory but not for me. UPDATE: So I have been using this set for a few months now and sadly the coating has worn off my 5.0, 4.5 & 6.0mm hooks. The hooks continue to be perfectly useable and did find the coating wearing off my 6.0mm advantageous as it wasn’t entirely smooth. The main body or handle is ergonomic and comfortable to hold however the sleeves that come with it, in my case, have stretched and now slide off or turn as I work. I am an evening and weekend crocheter so the kit is not over used. This kit is certainly not built for longevity the quality just isn’t there, sadly I wouldn’t recommend it.

Wow! What a lovely product. I have tried light-up hook in the past, but the plastic hooks were bendy and disappointing. I love the case, the accessories for personalisation, the detachable little case that comes inside the main case. It is awesome.My only niggle, is that because I am accustomed to Clover hooks, I prefer a shorter hook. If it had a shorter hook, I would rate SIX stars if possible and buy one for all my crochet friends!

This is the 2nd set I've bought the first one went to my mum so I didn't get a chance to try it out but she loves it so finally got my self a set and I've got to say it really is a lovely set I don't get an achy hand crochet for longer periods of time like I did with my old hooks it does take a little time to get used to the shape in your handI have found that some of the hooks are hard to push into the handle but that's not really a big dealThe case inside seems to have got damaged a little which was a little disappointingfrom that I do like recommend these for anyone who crochet alot
