In Pure Encapsulations b-Complex liquid the vitamin B1, B5 and niacinamide are synthetic. As a company that specializes in hypo-allergenic formulas, Pure Encapsulations often chooses to use synthetically derived ingredients if they can be made to be bio-identical (acting in the body identically to naturally derived compounds). This limits the potential for allergy in our highly sensitive customer population. Ingredients that cannot be bio-identically synthesized are typically derived from fermentation. The B2, B12 and citric acid are derived from corn dextrose fermentation. This process starts with isolating dextrose from corn (a sugar, so does not contain allergenic corn protein), which is then fed to micro-organisms. The micro-organisms produce these nutrients, and the nutrients are then isolated and purified away from the starting materials. While no corn proteins or sugar remain in the final product (and we have tested with negative results), Pure Encapsulations does not routinely test for corn allergens and therefore would not be able to guarantee its safety for someone with a corn allergy. The Glycerin is derived from coconut, palm and palm kernel oil.
