Steam air valves Maid o' mist #5 1/8" Angle steam vent

Tried this valve as the fancier ones similar to what most of my radiators have are now $50 and more. Valve was easy to install and is working perfectly. Adjustment screw was easy to set where I needed it. I even ordered a second one to hold onto for when another one quits working.

Been using these air vents for over 20 years in a 4 family 12 bedroom building in Queens NY . So I’ve bought a lot of them over the years. It seems some of them last for years and others a year or more. Basically they might be the most reasonably priced and the only one available most of the time. So in my opinion they a decent option even if it’s the only option !

The only reason it didnt get ab5 is that it only had 1 size vent… my other Maidomist had multiple sizedvets

I've had two or three different brands of steam valves for my radiators and this one works just as good, no better, no worse than the others. When I bought my house the steam radiator system was in disrepair. I replaced the boiler and had to replace a few of these valves. I originally bought three Hoffman #40 valves to replace my missing ones. I also had several no name valves that were still in place on my system when I bought the house. All of those have worked fine for the 7+ years I've had the house. I had nice even heat distribution and the only complaint I had was the somewhat loud hissing as steam vented through these valves. I bought this #5 Maid-O-Mist valve just to see if it was any quieter. It is not quieter, but it works just as well as any of the two other varieties I've used.

It worked much better than the more expensive brand that I ordered in the past. Easy to use and adjust and reduce the rumbling expansion noise from copper pipe inside the wall and subfloor.

I had a few steam radiators that didn't warm up at all due to some very old and clogged vents. I replaced them with these and now the radiators work well. It makes a world of difference in how the house heats when all the radiators are working well.
