JML Air Cooler, Portable Fan and Humidifier - Chillmax Air Pure Chill 2.0, 4-Speed Settings with Dual Mist Spray Jets, Evaporative Hydro-Chill Filter, Easy Clean Alternative Air Conditioning Unit

With no air con at work the summer is unbearable so this is my second purchase of this cooler. The old one was used relentlessly for three summers and still works but I broke the vent. The unit is perfect for one person to use. If you sit in front of it at a desk you will benefit. It would not cool a larger space. So effective that five people at work have purchased it too.

Pluses:Cold air up to 4 or 5 ft away....if....you use cold water (I keep a bottle in the fridge and recycle as required). During heatwave ice and/or filter in freezer (I find couple of minutes sufficient). Noise easily drowns out - not as bad as reviews I've seen. Colour change nice.Cons: plug heats up on full setting. remote would be perfect to manage lights and amend level of flow once body temp regulates. Removable water chamber even better as annoying to have to unplug and carry whole unit to empty it (unless I've missed something). One refill can last days.All in all great little unit for my needs and recommend even at 30+ degrees centigrade. At one point I aimed the unit at my electric fan and we noticed cooler air bouncing back at a greater reach (but don't quote me on this one!)

Reading other disgruntled views saying it didnt cool their room......it`s not meant to. It cools the space around you and it really does. It`s only a small, light box but it`s wonderful to sit near it and feel so much more comfortable. The fan makes a noise, cos fans do, but it`s not extreme and I could sleep with this on with no problem. It makes the extremely hot weather more bearable and is worth every penny. I`m so pleased I took the advice of a guy at work who recommended it.For those wanting a room chiller, get your hands in your pockets and buy a proper aircon unit. You cant expect champagne with beer money with this.As far as I`m concerned, it does what it`s supposed to and it`s amazing.

Positives: 1. Really does help you to feel cooler - seems to be more effective than some other devices; 2. Small, lightweight, easy to use; 3. Good price compared to some other similar products; 4. Provides a little humidity in hot dry environmentNegatives: 1. Fan rather noisy/ intrusive; 2. Only cools your immediate surroundings when device/ air stream is pointed directly at you - makes no difference at all to the room temperature, or even to the temperature surrounding my desk! 3. You have to clean the small filter at least on weekly basis

You can tell its been made with a cheap fan, because loud is an understatement, even with the fan on its lowest setting this thing is louder then my tele, its louder then the computer next to me which has got 6 fans in it. If this is what JML calls a "whisper-quiet fan" I suggest they reconsider their advertising strategy. The woman in the picture must be deaf to have that thing so close to her head and be fast asleep.Its a cool night so its too early to say if it has actual effect on the temperature of the room yet, shame it didn't arrive a day earlier in this case.As for build quality, it does feel cheap, plastic is thin and its extremely light. If you dropped it I don't think it would survive.To use, its very simple. Soak the filter which comes out easily and slots back in with a little jiggling. As for filling the top with water, theres a small lift up lid (with no clip to lock it) easy enough to fill up with. Two buttons, one to switch on and control the amount of air flow. Another to control the blue light on top.EditedI have since writing a review of this product had a chance to really test it and it is garbage, it will be sent back in the morning. I have tried to switch it on for the third time and it has already died. Won't switch on, won't stay on when it was on, absolute garbage. Its about as cooling as any random fan, except it doesn't cool as large an area and it doen't rotate and only cools one small spot. First time I've bought a JML product, probably the last time I buy a JML product. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Good, fair priced cooler. Easy to use and very silent if you use it at night.

Good item I have a few of these Great in the Summer to Cool me Down. After putting filter in Freezer , works very well.

This has been a great buy for myself and my partner. The air is cool enough that I haven't needed to fill it or freeze the filter yet but it's nice to have the option to do this if I need to.Initially I found the fan to be quite noisy - especially on the highest setting however my partner loves it!! He is autistic and the sound of the fan really helps to calm him and helps him to sleep. He normally uses an app on his phone for the fan sound but he likes he "live" sound much better. He tends to keep it on all night so if he wakes he settles off quickly again rather than waking me up!! Now I have gotten used to it I have found that it helps me too.We also have the Chillmax Air GO but we both much prefer the larger version so we have now purchased two of these units so that he can take one for when he's away from home.
