Whiz Comics #2

I reviewed this shortly after I received my copy on Aug. 16. First, it arrived damaged because it was shipped in a soft envelope with no backing or reinforcement and was bent (I posted a photo of that--doing so again). And second, it was square-bound book, not really a facsimile of the original comic as it sounded in the description. For example, the inside front and back covers (with minor modern alterations) were printed on an interior page, placed in front of the comics pages. I had a few nice things to say as well, but right now I'm a little puzzled and troubled that my original review seems to have vanished with no explanation. I got an email from Amazon on Aug. 18 telling me it was live. What happened after that, I don't know.

Very nice reproduction of the first issue of "Whiz Comics" which introduced the original "Captain Marvel" super hero character from Fawcett publications. Buyers should be aware that the publisher decided to give this reprint a square blocked spine as opposed to the wraparound stapled spine of the original comic book. However, despite the fact that it's not therefore, an absolutely true facsimile, it is still a nice, well produced book.As the original comic would cost you thousands of dollars or pounds, this is a good affordable substitute.
