The Dirk Gently Omnibus

If you are average or below in the intelligence department, you may want to give this a pass. However, if you enjoy reading books that others complain "make their head hurt", then you are going to enjoy this one! It's lovely, twisted, wrong and funny. It will not take a straight line, but trust me, everything is connected!

This is a fun read. Douglas Adams at his best. If you like Douglas Adams or unusual books this is for you.

Enjoyed the book or should say books as there are 2 novels. I have always Iiked the author's style. Would rate the words higher than the physical book. The book on the other hand came with a unique odor. Not pleasant but not bad enough to not read the book. Lysol only masked the odor.

Dirk Gently is one of the most overlooked great detectives. This omnibus in hardcover was a great find for us and it was in excellent condition. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the late great Douglas Adams who had a reverence for the earth and the ridiculous!

This is very good, but it is also very dark. If you liked Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy, this is nothing like it.

Just as you'd expect from the master of clever comedy sci-fi, a romp through everything sci-fi holds to be impossible. And that couch!

Douglas Adam's output was tiny which is a real shame because he was one of the most imaginative and funny science fiction writers ever. I prefer central characters to be anti-heroes and Dirk gently is definitely one of those, so these books have always been among my favourites. The first book has two of the cleverest ideas of any book - the electric monk and his horse, and the sofa on the staircase. You must read it just to find out about those but both books a very pleasurable read from the master. He was always weak on endings so don't expect great things there but it doesn't seem to matter the writing is just there to be enjoyed.
