This is NOT a diet, but a core way of lifestyle for people with food addiction tendencies.
I have tried every “diet” under the sun and have been successful many times. But as most people (98%) have gained the weight back and then some each time. This book is science based, I don’t care what others have said, it is, and Susan has lived every moment of most of our own struggles and then some. She backs up her information with numbers, research, facts and educates the reader on where we are as a nation (world) heading with obesity and why. Then she maps out how to lose the weight and keep it off and her plan is more successful than any other on the planet. Those saying it is too restrictive are not ready to take their food addiction seriously and will continue the merry-go-round of “dieting” and losing and gaining weight. Susan created the susceptibility test to see where each of us fall on a scale of 1-10. Depending where you fall on that scale will dictate whether, after losing the weight, you can blur the lines. Some people can have the occasional “treat”, but for most it starts a landslide into old habits. After all, if we could walk away after eating only one cookie or a handful of chips we wouldn’t be here. I am an 8. After reading the book, doing the 14 day challenge and several weeks of the boot camp, I know there are things I will never eat again. But like Susan says, one day, one preplanned meal at a time. And no, she doesn’t say you have to take your scale with you to the restaurant! You can if you want, but she encourages you to practice eyeballing portion sizes so you are prepared when out eating. The weighing food is a must as it takes all the decisions away from you and no will power is needed that way. So, whether you continue this way of eating for life, or modify it after you are finished is left totally up to you. I found it very educational (and I thought I knew everything about diet and food!) uplifting, and answered many questions I didn’t know I had. Oh, and for the no exercise while in weight loss…that makes total sense after you hear her explanation as to why. She isn’t against it, just after weight loss to tone up and build muscle then. She isn’t the only plan that takes this stance. Ever wonder why you can go to the gym and never lose weight? She explains it all and more. I highly recommend this book. If anything else it will help you eat healthy and understand why so many are obese. It’s not a cult, a religion or pressure based at all. You don’t have to do the boot camp for $497 to do this plan. But it is full of support and definitely worth it if it what you need. She offers a 14 day challenge for $14 (which you can do a many times as you want) and to buy a good kitchen scale. This book and a cook book are also available and I would recommend. You didn’t get overweight by eating your way. The information Susan provides is priceless. If your serious and not looking for excuses, this book is worth every Penny.

Cook Your Way to Happy, Thin and Free
The Official Bright Line Eating Cook Book is hot off the press. What makes this particular cook book so unique is its approach to eating as a lifestyle created by Bright Line Eating founder and CEO: Susan Pierce Thompson. As well as being a professor of neuroscience, she is renowned in her field of Sustainable Weight Loss and has presented a clear and highly effective program sans sugar and flour; no snacking, and weighing and measuring foods; that has proven successful to her adherents ( we are among the thousands) that one can regain a healthy, happy, thin, and free way of life. And once the results of this program are clear, there’s no going back !The cook book is not only a testament to this unique food philosophy, it presents delicious recipes that comply with the program’s high standards of no sugar and no flour. The contributors, who are part of the Bright Lifer’s community, have gathered their favorite recipes and with some fresh spices and panache have presented a wide range of scrumptious recipes, colorfully photographed.Of benefit to the reader and personally very moving to me are the personal success stories of the people involved in the BLE program who have provided before and after photos. The BLE life members who gathered their personal favorite recipes are successfully following this healthy path, and their lives have been transformed by this amazing program !Two of my favorite recipes are: the White bean and Pumpkin Soup; and the cauliflower Fried Rice dish. Each one is absolutely scrumptious, and the distinctive tastes, and textures defy the usual bland choices of other “diet” cook books.I am looking forward to trying out the array of recipes offered, each with clear and precise directions and nutritional info and even with substitutions listed.Three cheers for the Bright Line Eating Cookbook— one can now lose weight, feel fabulous and enjoy the delicious offerings of this long awaited cook book !

Just Enough To Please Everyone
I love the cookbook! I've already tried a few recipes since I received the book. Some were pretty common ones in Bright Line Eating, some I hadn't thought of at all. But especially if you are new to Bright Line Eating, buy the book Bright Line Eating, as well as this cookbook for inspiration. This book has some explanation of the ways in which our brains work and think about food (the science behind it), but this is a cookbook, afterall. I have to say, with all the fake Bright Line Eating cookbooks out there, this one was greatly needed and appreciated! If you get a book with recipes that include any flours, sugars or added sweeteners of any kind -- RUN the other way. That's NOT Bright Line Eating! My favorite breakfast recipe so far is the Banana Rice Bake. I switched it up by doing 1/2 banana and 1/2 canned pumpkin... It is FALL! The Breakfast Parfait is one of my daily go-to recipes. This book had just enough new and simple recipes to keep me happy. Here's the thing about BLE. Your food needs to be simple. If you're some gourmet chef, you might not be happy with this book. I think the variety in this book was enough that should keep everyone happy. However, I'm not everyone. Once you go splitting this and that and making things complicated you take the simplicity out of your recipes, which is missing the point of BLE, in my opinion. I like the trigger levels being included. Like many who have commented, I wish there were a bit more recipes and that the print was larger. I like the inspirational success stories in there, but honestly I already know BLE works, and I didn't need so much of that in the cookbook. Overall, I think it has just enough of everything to make it awesome, helpful, informational and inspiring.

The real deal
I wasn't sure about the author, I was a little apprehensive at first. But actually, I've come to trust that she is someone with an absolute passion to help free people form addictive eating. This is spurred on in particular by her now suffering with addiction to food but also supported with good factual evidence from someone with a PHD in in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. I personally have got a huge amount from the information and techniques she suggests for enjoying food and living a healthy happy way.

The best of food addiction programs without the feeling broken attitude
I've been in 12 step for addiction programs for 10 years and lost all my weight, then moved away where I can only access online meetings. This Brightline Eating is an answer to a prayer. I get the best food program that helped me lose 125 pounds and keep it off while not making me feel as if I'm a sick person. The science is really good and I feel normal and healthy. I had gained back 35 pounds but now I'm losing it rapidly without going to meetings I don't have access to. I love the recipe book as it has great scientific information as well as lovely pictures of great easy recipes. I can do this for life.

A Way of Life
This isn't a regular diet - I've been on dozens! It is a lifetime commitment to eating whole and healthy food and ridding myself of cravings, excess weight, food thoughts, decisions around meals ... it represents freedom. I've only been 100 days so far and know now why no other programme was sustainable. Well worth a look on YouTube for videos on the science of Bright Line Eating. Revealing and profoundly life-changing. I've lost over a stone already and it doesn't feel as if I'm dieting (it did at first). It's just part of my daily routine and I'm hooked.

A take you by the hand intro to BLE
Nice review of BLE rules, negating need for first book or boot camp! She’s been very generous with all the info, tips and tricks. Some great recipe ideas to play with. Though the 2 soups I’ve cooked so far were awful, especially the tomato soup. I almost vomited. I’m sure it’s just that I’m conservative re soup!I really like the layout and ease of use. I would have liked more evening meal ideas, particularly some ideas on feeding a family alongside; eg a fish pie half potato half celeriac topping? All in all a great first cookbook from a self confessed non recipe user! Well done bright lifers.?

Not that many receipt in the book
I bought both books the book about bright line eating written by the author and the cook book I was a bit disappointed as there where not that many receipts in the book as the author had a lot of the stuff in this book as in her main book. And a loads of stories about people on how they did Bright line. Which I found not helpful as I was looking for a receipt book not stories about other people success.
