Ive ordered the KIT2 8GA kit from boss a few years ago and since then it has improved quite a bit. The kit now includes what is labeled as OFC Speaker wire (16ga), and OFC RCA, two things that were both not labeled as OFC in years past. Unfortunately the power and ground cables are not labeled as OFC as well, however they appear to be true or very close to true 8GA unlike the last kit i ordered where the sheath was about the size you would expect but the conductor inside was undersized. Although the speaker wire and RCA's are labled as Oxygen Free Copper, they do not specify what grade, and the box does not mention OFC anywhere, so that is a mystery. My guess its that its a lower grade Partial-OFC that you would expect to see in a kit a bit higher up in the price range. Shame that power and ground are not also OFC but what can you ask for at such a cheap price. I was also pleased to see that the addition of 20 zip ties, as well as 3 grommets, 3 self tapping screws, 3 differently sized red ring terminals for the power cable, 4 small spade terminals with separate insulators for the speaker wire, 2 larger spade terminals with separate insulators for the ground cable, were all included as well, almost all of which were not included in the old KIT2. The fuse is even improved as it is now an ANL style GLASS fuse. while not ideal, it is a step up from the filament style glass fuse. The fuse assembly has two grommets on either end to seal the wire inside the fuse holder, and the two gold plated inserts that hold the fuse itself also have O-Rings for further protection. The holder is such that you do not have to disconnect the wires from the pieces that hold the fuse in order to remove it, simply unscrew the end-caps and pull the wire away. Another nice addition that was not in the old KIT2 is 6ft of wire loom to tidy up and protect the power cable inside the engine bay. In the end this is obviously not a high end installation kit, but for someone on a budget who doesnt care about having everything Oxygen-Free, its great for the price and includes everything you need for a standard 8GA installation!

The kit was extremely easy to install and for the price you really can't beat it. The kit came with everything you would need the fuse and all of the prongs and things you would need to wire up some sub woofers. The 8 gauge is perfect for your average sub system; I plan on purchasing the 0 gauge kit later. I would definitely recommend especially if price is a factor. I have never had a problem it works extremely well and the cord lengths were perfect and just what you needed. The wiring was extremely flexible and you could put it just about anywhere. Of course if you decide to go all out on a sub system I would go with something bigger but this works perfect.

Cable quality is good. Sound quality is nice. Very easy to use and install fit my vehicle perfect with extra has grommets and zip ties included.

This product definitely meets the reputation of boss amongst the car audio community and not in a good way. It will get you going but that's about the end of anything good I can say about it. If starting out in this hobby. Please do not use this kit to power any amplifier over 800 watts RMS at the most. If using this for your mids and highs on a midrange or lower budget 400watt 2 channel amplifier this might be about perfect for that. The power and ground wire provided is about 80% rubber insulation and 20% actual wire. Also note that this is CCA and low quality CCA at that. Not OFC or any other type of pure stranded copper. The wire is such low quality that you can literally just pull it apart with minimal effort. I cannot comment or review the quality of the rca cables because I do not know enough about them to give a reliable review. Lastly for those starting off into the hobby as I imagine that you would be If you're viewing this product power is EVERYTHING in a system. You have to have it to make it. I know money is tight to a lot of people including myself but wire should not be where you make cuts in your budget and I learned this from trial and error through actual experience as well as research. If you are running an amplifier that actually puts out over 1,000 watts rms and calls for 4 awg you need to invest in quality ofc wire such as nvx. If possible get an adapter and run 2 runs of it power and ground. You need to look up the "big 3" and do that. This is all very very important. You do not want your power to bottleneck your system. It will run on crappy wire but will significantly reduce output and sound quality. Trust me. I learned the hard way

Husband loved it.

I bought this but was wrong gauge for my amp! You get the full kit, ties clips wire protective cover so on that merit I've given 5 star. It seemed like a solid piece of kit. I did get it for one amp but then decided on another amp hence why I didn't use this. Remember, the gauge of wire is dependant on the watts for the amp. Do your research or you'll have a few problems!
