False teaching
I could not give it even one star because I believe the book is dangerous. Ruling out the flesh as our enemy, goes against Scripture, which outlines the world, the flesh, and the devil as our enemies. I think this is done purposely by the author so that fleshly sins can be treated as demons and he can pretend to "cast" them out. That's why he can name demons lust, greed, suicide, depression, etc. He sees what Christ and the Apostles did as normative for believers rather than see their calling and authority as far more powerful than anything we could possess. He constantly attributes verses meant for Christ (e.g. putting Satan under His foot) to believers. His claim to have remained sinless for several weeks reveals a low view of Christ's sacrifice, a complete misunderstanding of the fallenness of man and malignity of sin, and an exalted view of self. While he correctly advises not talking to demons without Christ present, he still has examples of talking to demons rather than letting Christ do it all. Christ has the only power to rebuke or cast out demons. Man has no such power. He completely missed the message Nehemiah gave when he said "should a man like me take refuge in the temple?" Rather than point out his value, it stressed that he was nothing in God's eyes. Claiming that we are children of the King and have His authority may make us feel powerful but until Christ sets up His Kingdom, we have no power. He ends the book with a foolish account of his atheist grandfather's spoiling him with no consequences for clearly wrong and dangerous behavior and said it was the best example of love he could think of. Obviously Christ's sacrifice and love were insufficient. A horrible book that teaches nothing about true spiritual warfare, which is fully accomplished by the Gospel.

I highly recommend this book !
I have walked with the Lord for almost 40 years now, more than 37 of those years in conservative churches. I have a deep love for God's Word and do not tolerate inaccurate Biblical teaching, New age teaching, etc. In my love for the God's Word, I have spent many, many years in in-depth study of the Word. This book was recommended to me by someone I respected, but was hesitant because of many years of being told that Kris Vallotton and Bill Johnson were false teachers. While deciding on whether to purchase the book, I read all the negative comments to see if they had valid, objective reasons for giving a bad rating.Based on what I read from the negative critics, I almost missed this gem! Fortunately I decided to download a sample; the sample led to a purchase I will never regret.I am only half-way through the book, but I find no valid basis for the critics judgements of false-teaching and Biblical inaccuracy. I have not yet read any teaching that is not in line with the full counsel of God's Word.In addition, I have found answers to the many questions that arose during my dark night of my soul, I have found relief from a physical torment, and I feel a sense of stability that comes from understanding God's perspective of my Wilderness.I have read other books on spiritual warfare; this one is very different and it keeps your eyes firmly focused in the right place. I highly recommend this book.

Jesus delivered me through this book
The beginning was hard for me to get through. I don’t like looking for a demon around every corner. I got to chapter 6 and my world was shaken. My life strewn out on the pages showing me a lie I was believing and I was set free in such a way that I can’t describe. I will always remember that moment that I realized I had been tormented in fear over my health by spirits and from that moment every symptom was gone. I recently separated myself from clinging to bethel but what I got from Jesus delivered to me through this book was so powerful and I recommend it to anyone worried / tormented about health.

My Highlights
I just started doing this but my book reviews will now consist of my highlights. The passages I underlined while reading. I believe I would want to see this from other people so I might as well give what I would want to receive."The normal Christian life is not supposed to be an exhausting wrestling match with a dead man, but is an abundant, joy-filled life with God, salted with an occasional season of strong resistance from our archenemy.""You have to make an effort to sin because it is no longer your nature""And third, we probably did nothing wrong to cause the battles. As a matter of fact, we are usually in a battle because we are doing something right""The devil hates to see restoration in any area of our lives or in the lives of others.""When we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed by circumstances or situations, it can be a sign that we have traveled outside our metron, exposing the low places of our walls.""An idol is anything you trust more than you trust God, or anything you have to check with before you say yes to God.""Prophecy is one of God's most destructive weapons against the lies of the enemy that isolate us and separate us from the body"."Prophecy is like a nuclear weapon in the hands of a believer.""It is tough enough to be in such an intense battle that you cannot see the forest for the trees. But it is stupid to set the forest on fire with our tongues.""We do not produce righteousness we protect it""He is telling us that listening to the Holy Spirit and prophetically proclaiming what he says is our only offensive weapon of warfare.""Any time we turn to the devil's devices to solve the issues of our soul, we step out from under the umbrella of God's protection and become vulnerable to the elements.""We are in Christ, therefore we carry his authority into every circumstance, every geographic location and every situation."It is time that we give our children more than a Happy Meal. We need to teach them how to deal with the destructive forces of evil from the time they are little.""It is hard to imagine, but I am convinced that demons are more afraid of children than they are of adults. There is something about childlike faith and innocence that God protects in an extraordinary way.""Witch-hunting in our souls plays right into the schemes of the devil. He is not called the accuser of the brethren for nothing. He is the master re possessor, convincing people that their new found freedom is undeserved.""On a personal level, if you have the gift of discernment and you sit next to someone troubled by an evil spirit of pornography, you most likely will experience pornographic thoughts or pictures while you are in that person's space.""I think many Christians with a strong gift of discernment are diagnosed with a bipolar disorder because they do not know they are gifted. They think they are experiencing mood swings, but they do not understand that they are simply sensing the spiritual atmosphere in a particular metron.""When you have a strong negative opinion about someone do not trust your gift of discernment.""I have watched people try to overcome their fear of an evil spirit by yelling at the demons to come out. Raising your voice will not increase your authority. Demons do not respond to anger, manipulation or control. They only respond to authority.""The demons have to leave when we unearth the root cause of their attraction.""When camping in dangerous places, it is often recommended that you keep a campfire going to keep the predators away. When we set our hearts on fire, demonic predators stay out of our camp."

Heaven sent
This book answered a lot of questions to situations I'm living right now.As I read through, scriptures came to my mind only to find them mentioned on a page later and I thought: -Do great minds think alike? 😂 I guess so if the Holy Spirit is engaged!Last week was speaking to my friend that my 'old man' was resurfacing specially through people that knew my old self! Never though to have you mentioned this subject when I got your book.Today I spoke to my friend again that God told me sometime ago to 'Sit and wait for Me, I Am coming soon' - I have been wrestling with this idea for I feel I'm being lazy and should do more.... immediately after this I read your chapter about the seasons! And like this through out the book...I better obey and rest 💝Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing your heart. Soooo good!May Jesus continue to bless you and your family and that you be a blessing to others like you've been to me!Love your Grandpa

Love this book.
I just love the writings of Kris Vallotton! They are full of realism as he tells the truth about his own painful experiences and the life-transforming lessons he has learnt. I am not sure if I learn anything new about the Biible's teaching, but somehow I see the whole picture as never before, ministered in a very readable and transformative way.Kris Vallotton is a prophet at Bill Johnson's church, Bethel church in Redding, California. Many people criticise both of them and call them false teachers. A friend of mine piously circulated something on Facebook the other day about Kris Vallotton not believing in the Trinity. What a load of nonsense! There are those who read their works carefully in order to find something - anything - to be able to say that they are 'wolves in sheep's clothing' but as someone with an academic qualification and 55 years of experience of teaching the Bible, I think the issue is much more that they tend to overturn traditional concepts, rather than Biblical ones. I find their writings the most edifying that I have ever read outside of the Bible, and I don't have to agree with every word in order to do that. I do agree with 99% of what they say and can easily overlook the 1% in order to be edified and helped. I am about to visit a couple in marriage trouble and this particular book has given me real insight into their situation.Kris Vallotton writes in this book about the reasons that Christians get into emotional and spiritual trouble and gives immensely practical guidelines about how to get free. Terrific

Contributes to the subject but parts are heavy going?
I purchased this book in an effort to get a greater understanding and try to help friends suffering from depression. The book describes Kris's tough and in parts horrendous journey in life and after a tough slog (for me) through the first 100 pages or so, reveals some practical suggestions regarding actions to take - what I was really after. The possibility of a 'spiritual' domain (in addition to the space and time domains) has been largely rejected by the 'western' educated mind and yet various domain theorems exist in physics and mathematics to explain and resolve real problems - so to my scientifically trained mind should not be ruled out of other areas of life. If you are interested in this area, possibly worth reading through other material on how the brain works, Auto Negative Thoughts and the power of making thankful, positive and encouraging verbal declarations to counter them - effectively re-writing your brain 'software' with the aim of replacing despair with Hope, something I think this book aims to do from a Jesus based perspective.

Fantastic and well rounded
At times one can look at the name of a book and judge how it will read, even unconsciously. This book is such a well rounded piece of work. I found that Kris approached the issues of our battle in such a credible way exploring both our psychological and our spiritual make up. Thank you Kris. Highly recommended!

Life saver!
This book saved my life. I have been battling spiritual warfare all my life, like we all do. I was addicted to heroin, alcohol and other drugs. It nearly killed me many times. I never realised the answer was so simple. Kris Vallotton's message is life saving and even though the topic is extremely serious, Kris delivers this message in a comical way that's one of the reasons I found it hard to put this book down. Thank you is not enough. Kris you are being used in a mighty way by God! We can do ANYTHING with the authority of Jesus Christ. Even demons believe....WOW!!
