Properly sharp pencils again
I was given a long-point sharpener (a heavy brass job!) when I was studying mechanical engineering back in the 1980s, but lost it last year. I use pencils all the time and have missed them remaining usefully sharp for more than five minutes - the usual short-point profile very quickly loses its fine line - so I'm now very happy to have a proper sharpener again. Everyone should have one!

Just doesn't work at all, worst sharpener ever!
Pencils just rotate hardly shaving anything off and definitely not sharpening the pencil. It feels like the hole is a poor fit for the pencils, the same thing happened each time with 5 different popular brands of graphite pencils. You can keep turning for ages slowly taking off very fine bits of wood, then eventually the blunt led snaps off.Don't waste your money, especially as it was £5 when I bought it last week and now it's £11. It's got to be the worst sharpener ever, you could get better in a Christmas cracker. I would give less stars if I could.

It doesn't work
Sharpening a pencil is not difficult. As an art student I have done it more than a million times but never before experienced anything like this. I don't even understand how could a sharpener make my pencil so deformed.I have the two step sharpener and I love it, I just wanted a more compact version that could fit my pencil case but this thing is completely unsuitable for sharpening.

Very disappointed
Having bought the Kum Automatic sharpener, I was looking forward to this sharpener. However, it constantly breaks leads and leaves the wood rough and damaged by the point. I'm guessing there's an issue with the blade (blunt patch) and have requested a replacement. If the replacement works as intended I'll update this review, but for now I cannot recommend, just go for the automatic for a couple of quid more.

It's a joy to use a pencil with a long point!
Really good long point pencil sharpener. Many years ago I was trained in draughting (engineering drawing) and we always used well sharpened long point pencils. I only recently discovered I could buy such a non-standard sharpener still and did so. Lovely! If you use a pencil use a long point 😊
