Spot on.
I've just replaced all 8 factory speakers in my 2004 GMH Monaro/Pontiac GTO/Vauxhall Monaro and these R165S went into the front door (main speakers) and dash top (tweeters), along with extensive acoustic sheeting, and I couldn't be happier. The factory 200w RMS Blaupunkt head unit is now showing its real class, and I've dropped my original plan to change the head unit or add amps to the system. The main speaker fitted with zero modification. I bent the bar that the factory speakers were fitted on to get a better angle on the tweeters, but that's the full extent of mods required. The tweeters can be run from the built in crossover from the main, but I got a better frequency response and more authentic sound using the original tweeter channels.I am getting some unwelcome noise at full volume on tracks with heavy bass, but most of that is coming from less than perfect panel fit on the front doors. I'll fix this when I get a couple of hours spare.FYI - 6.5" Sony Explod 2 ways went into the rear seat side panels & 6.5" Rockford full range 3 ways running from the factory amp replaced the factory "subwoofers" in the rear parcel shelf, which were boxed in very tidily given their minimal height. No subwoofers, no problems. If looking for authentic reference sound the bass volume is adequate and only a few lower end herz are missed. However, if youre a big doof doofer then you would be left wanting.

Sounds great, sturdy build
They sound quite nice. Used them to replace a deluxe factory set that were ok but not great.Great bang for your buck with these. FYI no mounting hardware beyond for the tweeter. But I’ll take something more solid like these are instead any day.Bass isn’t super powerful. They do a good job representing the lower end at low to medium-high volumes.

Good but not perfect
I have installed quite a few systems over the past 40+ years. I like the sound of these speakers. 20 years ago you would have paid $200+ to get this quality sound. The price is dirt cheap. I generally install a dedicated sub when I install a system, so I roll these off at 90hz. Bass wasn't a factor in my consideration when buying these. For $20.00 more you can get some Alpine separates that have a more balanced sound. If you're on a budget then here you go. VALUE for your money. My one gripe. The flush mount tweeter retaining rings couldn't be made cheaper. I found the speakers difficult to mount perfectly flat. The retaining ring is not designed to apply pressure. It sits 3 or 4 mm behind the mounting hole. I believe it's to prevent the tweeter from just falling out. It's really a poor design. I placed a slim foam pad and cut out a hole the size of the speaker. This now sits between the speaker and retaining ring. It applies a little pressure to hold everything in place. The retaining ring can EASILY pop off. I applied a small dab of plastic glue in 2 opposite spots on the ring. Correcting this issue wasted about an hour of my time. So to sum it up, great sound for the money if your on a budget. If you have some skill you can flush mount the tweeters. Sound: B+

Good stuff
Sweet speakers so far. They love the head unit Watts. I wanted that, with no need for an amp. There loud and super crisp powered by pioneer avh2500nex, there perfect for mids and tweets supplemented by an under seat sub in my hatchback. Prolly not good for full range if you want sub 40/60 hz i had to dissect the tweets to add into my door panel. Lots a glue - plastic holding the tweet together but it can be done. There crossed over via head unit along with my Fosgate 6x8 rear speakers and sound is on point.

Good sound quality but buyer beware.
I bought these to go into a 2009 Hyudai Accent to replace the stock speakers. The good news is that they sound pretty good. The bad news is that the tweeter mounts were designed by an absolute moron. At first glance it appears that the tweeters have 2 mounting options: flared rim for flush mounting, or angled surface mount. In reality the "flush mount" brackets still require the mounting screws to use the same screw holes as the surface mount (through the back of the tweeters' speaker housing). Add to that the fact that the tweeter is encased in a rounded ball-like frame which causes it to be more bulky that the speaker size indicates. This caused me a lot of trouble and I had to use a dremmel tool to retro fit the old mounting bracket of my factory tweeter to fit the rounded housing of the new tweeter. The end result: they sound great, but I would definitely not recommend these speakers if you want to mount the tweeter inside your door. The tweeter housing is specifically designed for mounting on the dash or other surface.

Great speakers if you plan to keep your factory power
These speakers are great for factory replacement. If you plan to amplify them, there are better speakers out there but these work great with factory head units. Much louder and punchier than factory.I did get 1 tweeter that didn't work but it was just the wire was not in the spade terminal good from the factory. I stripped some wire and placed/crimped in a new terminal and it was just fine.
