Touch pad lights up, lock works as expected, easy to install
The only difference between putting one of these on a door and a traditional door knob is the locking mechanism and the keypad. When you install it, make sure that all the holes line up, and check the door thickness, and where the knob is concerning the door edge. The door latch will adjust for the depth of the door from the edge. Also, make sure that the wire is going through the opening at the top of the mechanism. Follow the directions and you should have no problem installing this lock. The keypad lights up when you depress the keys and once you have your combination set (which is also easy to do) the door will open every time with the correct combination. There are also keys included. Overall, this was an easy install and it looks good on the 4 doors I locked so that unauthorized persons could not enter.

Keep a screw driver handy!!!
I read many of the negative reviews before hand but decided to purchase this lock anyway. I had believed that the few incidents were isolated like all products have and I would most likley not get them. Boy, was I wrong. Installtion was easy enough and not terribly complex. The entire installation was maybe 10 minutes using nothing but two phillips head screw drivers. The lock itself appeared on first glance to be well made and solid. Creating lock codes was easy enough and we were all set to go. I tested the lock a few times with the door open and then once closed and everything worked well. I went in and out of the door may be 4 times under normal use and stayed in my office for about an hour before nature called and I went to leave. This is when the door decided to stop working. I was completely locked inside my office and could not get out. The door handle would not turn as if locked and the locking button would not turn either. With my legs crossed I ended up having to remove the entire door assembly to get out. After trying to see what happened I found that while most of the unit is well made of steel the locking button itself is made of plastic on the inside of the handle. Something within that piece had broken and caused the door knob to lock and not unlock. Thankfully I was the one who had gotten locked in and not an evening housekeeper. My office is in an area of the building where few people go after hours and if this had happened to one of them I would have probably found them sleeping on my office floor in the morning. I returned this unit and another I had not installed yet and replaced them with another manufacturer.

Great product! Garage is a lot more secure now!
Works mostly as intended... Easy install on a previously installed garage door handle. light up pad doesnt work as intended even when you hit the light up button. The light up keys all come on but you just can read what the numbers are or say! Aggravating since thats part of the reason for buying it but in all honesty it really hasnt been a big problem... I use my phone sometimes but the keys almost become second nature to you. I use the auto lock feature and thought maybe it may be a pain in the butt going in an out of the garage all the time, but I let it lock with the door part of the way open and then shut it when im done for the day. Otherwise im just in and out for a minute, pull it shut, and dont have to worry about it! Avoids that inevitable half way down the driveway, awe crap I forgot to shut the garage door moment!

Inexpensive keypad lock but a bit of work to install it
So after locking myself out of the house (in the garage) in my PJs and nobody is home and nobody is coming home, I decided to have a keypad-key lock and hide the key where I might remember it. So I spent an hour drilling through my titanium plate protected lock (who does this kind of thing? Oh. Nevermind) and wiped out a bunch of good drill bits. Fortunately I have several sets because I cant remember where I put them so I buy another. In this case, honey, it saved my bacon. OK bought the above keypad lock because it was stainless steel and a lot cheaper than most of the rest. I mean its inside a garage, and if I ever have to drill it out....l you get the reasoning here). Some things to be ready for: It doesnt fit under a standard US placed deadbolt. on the outside I needed to grind off about 3/16 to clear the bottom of the deadbolt. No I can't turn it upside down because then the keypad is upside down and keys are hard enough when you have had a couple of beers. That would make no sense. But it snugs up against the deadbolt and looks no worse for the experience. Route the little data cable through but do it upside down. I will get to that. You dont put the screws through the whole assembly like you are used to. You bolt on a plate that will secure the inside part of the knob but remember how the outside barely fit? Well the inside doesnt even come close. Like 2" overlap with the deadbolt (Hellooooo Marketing Dept!) So That part can go upside down cause it doesn't have a keypad just a batter case. So ignore "this side up" on the plate (nice steel plate but deforms a bit as you torque it down) and route the cable through the cutout. It juuuuuust barely reaches. Now assemble a connector so small it would be at home in your laptop with your fingers while holding up the inside knob. Cant be done. Step 1. Tape the know so it doesnt fall by itself. Step 2. carefully use a needlenose to line up (white wires match dont care about the rest) and gingerly snap it closed. If it doesnt snap, it will come apart and your keypad will be connected to nothing. Now you can put the inner knob on with the 2 screws that now mate with the bottom of the plate. Ta Da. Success. Add some industrial batteries cause you dont want to find dead batteries when you get home and follow the programming instructions. After two or three tries you will probably get it. Once installed, it looks good, works Ok. The unlock button is on the lower right. Get a red sharpie and make it easier to see. Or nail polish, I dont judge. You got the key or the keypad and for a stainless steel lock for the price of an unkeyed closet lockset. Oh before I forget. New installations- the strike plate has non-standard spacing for the mounting screws so mark before you cut or if there is an existing strike plate just use that on. The screws they provided are tiny. Get some nice 1 1/2"-2" stainless steel brutes to hold the strike plate in place. Enjoy.

Bought this door knob to replace an existing door knob in the house for extra security, and this definitely didn't disappoint. Out of the box, the doorknob is heavy and solid quality. The packaging itself is relatively minimal and eco-friendly, and also comes with instructions on how to set your custom lock password. Installation was easy and all required parts came with the doorknob. Overall, a solid buy, especially for DIY enthusiasts. The build quality has lasted several months now, and I've had no issues with battery life or lock mechanics. Would definitely recommend this to a friend.

After having used it for over two years I can give my overall positive feedback. Considering that my partner is a joiner, fitting the lock using the instruction provided was easy enough. I Found the instruction for setting up a security code useful including how to re-set the code. It doesn’t seem to consume too much energy and only requires battery replacement twice a year. The display buttons require firm push when pressing them but the sound beep is there to acknowledge the digit was entered. Occasionally it takes two time to enter the security code before the lock opens. Generally , satisfied with the quality and operational characteristics of this digital security lock and would recommend it to others.
