Well-made, fits over a low bun, comfortable
Years ago, I had a well-made terry-lined shower cap that I absolutely loved. Wore it for years - until it fell apart. For whatever reason, I started buying the unlined versions and they’re just not the same. And I suspect all terry lined ones aren’t the same either. This company, Betty Dain, has been in the business of making shower caps for many decades. So, I decided to give one a try. And once again, I’m in love with my shower cap. The terry cloth lining keeps moisture out. It’s nice and snug around my hairline so my hair doesn’t get wet. I have hair that’s just below my shoulders and for showering, pull it up into a low bun and the cap easily accommodates the bun and there’s plenty more room. And the print on the cap is subtle and pretty - and grownup (unlike many) - which I really appreciate (and my husband does too. Haha) Shower caps can look a little goofy, but this one actually looks nice. TIP: Some people have had their terry cloth shower caps develop a mildew odor after a while. I’ve been able to avoid that by doing this: as soon as I get out of the shower, I dry off the exterior - the plastic shell - using a towel, paying particular attention to where the plastic bunches up at the elastic. I find a microfiber towel works best. Then, with the exterior dried, I turned the cap inside out and hang it on a hook so that terry cloth is on the outside. It takes less than a minute, and I’ve not had mildew or any bad odors appear - and I live in humid Florida where my bathroom fan faces an uphill and losing battle every time I take a shower. Even with the fan and house AC, the room gets a little steamy. Which is why I had to devise that little trick.

Favorite shower cap EVER
I have owned this shower cap for about THREE YEARS, and it has been my trusty shower buddy for all this time, keeping my hair dry and my style stylish. It even survived several months in my gym bag when were were renovating the house, and I had to shower at the gym. ;-p Alas, nothing lasts forever, and the elastic finally gave out on one side. I bought my first cap at a beauty supply store about three years ago, and I am thrilled to find the exact same cap for sale on Amazon... for about $5 less. Yay! Pluses: 1. YES, it is waterproof. I have a large, rain-style shower-head in my shower (with good-pressure water), and it splashes directly all over the top of my head. The cap never leaked. Not once. 2. The terry lining stops my hair from getting sweaty during a shower. (Put plastic anything on your head, and your scalp is going to heat up.) This is probably my favorite feature/benefit -- who wants to step out of the shower with a clean body and a sweaty head? :-O 3. Long lasting. Three years is pretty darned good for a shower cap. Minuses: 1. The elastic band, although not tight, has a tendency to make train tracks across the middle of my forehead. As the marks can last for maybe half an hour, I solve this by pushing the elastic band up toward my hairline where, for whatever reason, it doesn't mark. How I use: I have medium length hair that is several inches past my shoulders. I clip my hair up, out of the way, and then put the shower cap over my head. If I didn't clip my hair up, it would just fall out. This is actually a plus -- imagine how tight the cap would have to be to hold all you hair up... ouch! - - - - - That's about it. LOVE this cap.

keeps hair dry
Elastic is tight enough to keep hair dry but not tight enough so as to be uncomfortable. Terrycloth lining is attached to plastic shell with cloth edging. Seam on the edging is straight. It feels and works well enough to be worth the price. Dogs-in-sunglasses design make me smile.

Love love love!
I am a hairstylist and I very rarely shampoo my hair so I needed to find something that repels water and has a tight seal against my skin, and I came across this! I have a small head shape and I find it fits me perfectly, so I wouldn’t recommend if you have bigger head shape or a ton of hair because it might leave a mark or get too heavy if you have a lot of extensions. The fabric on the inside helps soak up any possible water that gets in and also makes it softer and less noisy against my ears. At first it was definitely snug but it did loosen a tad over time and got more comfortable. :) I haven’t had any water seep in so that is wonderful, once I wear this one out, I’ll definitely be ordering another! I do recommend that after each use to pull the lining inside out to dry just in case it gets wet, that way it can dry properly and not have a mildew smell over time.

Tight around the head .
The band is really very very tight. I am afraid I’m going to have to cut the elastic or figure something out. It’s beautiful. It looks like it’s real quality. I’m sad that they make it so tight. It is beautiful though.

The best
This is my favorite shower cap. I’ve tried others, but always come back to this brand. It’s terry cloth lined, so no condensation. The elastic goes all the way around and stays securely where you put it. And the bonnet is large enough for me to hold my hair up with a clip. I hope they sell these forever!

This is the second shower cap I've had from Betty Dain. I originally bought the leopard print one (not really my style but not many choices at the time) quite a few years ago and it's served me very well since - it started to smell musty at one point so I put it in the wash and it came out fine. The elastic finally went on one side so I replaced it with this one. This cap was slightly more expensive than others in the range at the time but I much prefer the design over my previous leopard print one. It's quite girly - pink with French themed illustrations of the Eiffel Tower, flowers, beauty essentials and French text. The best part about these shower caps is the size - I only have mid-length fine hair but I tie it up in a bun and it's so roomy, the back of my head has never gotten wet while wearing these caps. I imagine it's suitable for most hair types as it's really generous in size compared to most shower caps I've tried. The elastic is quite tight (especially compared to my ageing old one) so it doesn't let water in, for a quick shower it's fine, but I used it while having a lengthy bath and ended up with lines on my forehead! The towelling inside is ideal as unlike plastic lined caps, there's no condensation / that sweaty feeling when wearing it. I'd 100% recommend Betty Dain shower caps and would replace mine again if the elastic goes again. They look and feel high quality so hopefully this one will also last me for years to come.

I use shower cap almost daily and this is by far the most I’ve paid for a shower cap. Glad I’ve invested on this fancy shower cap. Feminine and cute!
