Nutty
I got the exact color as pictured. It has a strong nutty smell, a little like hazelnut. I don't like nuts so I am not fond of the smell. It's a solid block of unrefined goodness, which is purportedly the best way to use shea butter and get all the benefits. To use as lotion, chip/scoop some out and melt it in your hand with body heat just by rubbing your hands or fingers together and apply as needed. It's thick- very thick. Body butter has nothing on this stuff. It does also feel greasy to the touch because of this, but on skin itself it doesn't feel greasy.(edited after over a year of use)I'll address the advertised benefits that I can.Moisturizer: Works great as a moisturizer, just as moisturizing as body butter. But it does dry out slightly faster than my other body butter blends. It is also great for dead ends on hair. It feels a little too weird for me to use on my scalp, but my dead ends LOVE the stuff and makes them look nice again for a while.Cuts/burns: It worked fine on a paper cut, the thickness stopped the bleeding and slightly reduced the pain. As for burns, it doesn't stop the burning feeling but reduces blisters as well as overt pain. It makes the burn a bit hydrophobic though, which isn't useful. Aloe is better, burned part in a bowl of ice water for ages is still the victor.Insulation: Just walking around the house with this stuff all over me I can tell I'm pretty well insulated. It's a weird use. And I wouldn't run into the snow wearing just this stuff.Pain relief from swelling: Zero pain relief for me.Muscle relaxation: Zero muscle relaxation for me. But I have very little capacity to relax so I may not be the best person to review this.Prevent/reduce stretch marks: This will fill in small stretch marks over time. It will not restore the color, but if you ran your fingers across it blind you wouldn't notice them. It doesn't help large marks much. I haven't had much experience with prevention, but on that front it seems to be relatively effective.Sun screen: Good minor sun protection. Don't throw away your bullfrog.massage: It's too think and slick to massage with, from a professional stand point. For a non-therapy massage, it's okay. It's a good way to apply it.16oz, or a pound, is a lot to use as just a skin treatment. I've barely dented the stuff after over a year, it is a good deal.

SHEA BUTTER HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER!
My son was born with a severe case of eczema. He used to itch and scratch continuously; his skin became so thin that the scratching easily cuts his skin and infection sets in and spread all over his body. Once he developed infection, he would spend a week or two at the hospital. We've tried all the expensive eczema creams and lotion recommended by the dermatologist but nothing worked. Then I read online how pure organic raw shea butter helped someone with a similar severe case of eczema; I decided to give it a try so I ordered it from Amazon, My wife couldn't stand the smell, but because we've tried everything else but nothing works, she decided to put up with the smell if it would help our son's severe case of eczema.About a week after we started using the product, his skin no longer looked thin as it used to; and within two weeks to a month his skin looked and stayed healthy. We have been using this product for four years now and since we started using it, he has not been admitted and treated for infection at the hospital as used to happen before we used the shea butter. His itching reduced dramatically and now he hardly itches. For us, the SHEA BUTTER HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER!

100% Pure Organic Shea Butter
I love the pureness of this Organic Shea Butter. My only problem with it is it's very compact and has finally softened up, It was colder when I first received the Shea Butter, and I had to take some out, place in a microwave safe dish and get it to turn to liquid this way. It is also unscented, but does make my skin very soft and smooth when I apply it to my skin, It makes my skin feel almost satin like. I just add body spray to give me the scent I like having even with my Shea Butter. If you are in need of a moisture lotion for dried out skin, then this would be perfect as it is 100% pure, and does make skin almost satin feeling.

hmmm...
So I'm using this product to make my own body butter... it has a very nutty smell to it... which I don't mind at all. It came in the container pictured above instead of a plastic bag so that's a plus too. The only problem I have with this product is it's not as unrefined as I would like it to be. It's smooth and creamy and it had this little symbol on the top so that let me know right off the bat that it was processed in some kinda way. I mean it's still better then the stuff in the stores tho

Probable Chemical Use During Processing
I ordered this, 100% Pure Unrefined Organic Raw SHEA BUTTER - (1 Pound) from the nut of the African Ghana Shea Tree, in July of 2013. When I received it, I noticed it had a faint chemical odor to it, but thought it would dissipate over time. However, that did not happen, it only grew stronger with time. So much so that it actually gave me a headache, which of course rendered the product completely unusable. (And no amount of essential oils could lessen or mask the overwhelming chemical stench.)I must say I'm a bit puzzled because this product is advertised as 'organic', which means that it cannot be treated with synthetic pesticides and/or processed with chemicals. The '100% Natural' means nothing, really, because the term 'natural' has come to be used so deceptively in advertising. This product bears no 'organic' certification or label. (Neither is there any assurance/evidence that this is a 'Fair Trade' product.)Although I am not a 'complete stickler' for organic labeling/certification (because I know both can be extremely expensive to acquire and maintain), this product is a 'fail' because of the obvious problem with the shipped product.Products get one chance with me, if they fail, that's it. Mostly because I do not have the money to keep trying a product to see if their claims of improvement are true. But the real bottom line for me is 'time'. I just don't have the time to keep checking back to see if something has changed/improved.
