Blockchain for Dummies
very good summary of how blockchain works

Misses the boat
The book is light on any meaningful content. While it should be expected that a book "for dummies" would not be a technical powerhouse, it should also be expected that the basic be presented in terms the dummies can understand. This book provides many examples of how blockchain is being used, without really telling you how they are using blockchain. The other rub is that somehow this book went out being edited. There are enough typos to fill a small blockchain, and enough word-choice errors to make any high school teacher cry. I would expect better from any professional writer; I would expect far better from Wiley. If you have a general idea of blockchain before you start the book you will have the same general idea when you are done.

A perfect intro to blockchain
This book has the difficult task of explaining a complex technology without excessive jargon. It has the even harder job of providing entry points for the novices. On both scores, I think it succeeds.

don’t expect to learn about blockchain
I generally like the “Dummies” books. Apparently, I’m not dumb enough—or maybe too dumb—to learn from this book. Choke on thi: “ A blockchain is a data structure that makes it possible to create a digital ledger of data and share it among a network of independent parties. There are many different types of blockchains. Public blockchains: Public blockchains, such as Bitcoin, are large distributed networks that are run through a native cryptocurrency. A cryptocurrency is a unique bit of data that that can be traded between two parties.”. It only got more opaque from these opening lines. I felt like I was being flim-flammed, while the author’s accomplice fished my wallet out of my pocket. Which is I guess what actually happened! They got my $12 for the Kindle version.
