Very sturdy. I ordered the easel for my Granddaughter, and she got a second one from her boyfriend. Now she has one at home and the other one is used at her boyfriend's parents' house.

Wonderful set, my wife loves it.

There are many points of adjustment and it can get a bit confusing/awkward at first, but this is a great device! very convenient to expand and contract when done. So far I have only used with smaller canvas (16x20), so I will update when using something bigger. One thing to note is that I did not tighten the screws very strongly, per another review that stated not to do it to avoid damage. The easel worked fine, but I let it stand for about 2 weeks before folding and by the end of the 2 weeks 2 of the legs have slid a little. So if you have something that needs extra drying time or is heavy/bigger, probably should tighten the bolts a bit more. !!

Bought this for my wife and it's very cool as far as features, adjustability, storage, lightweight design, etc. Definitely a crafty well-made easel. The problem is it's so wobbly on the 3 flimsy legs, each of which hinges once or twice for folding it up. If you're on the go, this is the thing for you and it even has a carry strap. If you're looking for something at home to stay put, this is very tedious to setup (lots of wing nuts and knobs to loosen and tighten) and it's not very sturdy when fully tightened and setup. I would buy it again for myself, but only as a portable easel, definitely not as an at-home, paint n sip, beat your canvas like Bob Ross style of painting. It's just wobbly.

My wife and I started painting a little more than a year ago at a paint and wine type of place and enjoyed it so much that we decided to start doing at home as a hobby. We invested in all types of paints, (acrylic), brushes, and other various supplies and how to books. We also had purchased some small and inexpensive table tri pod easels. They worked ok, but as our skills improved, so did our equipment. I also wanted to be able to take it on the road so to speak and have the ability to paint outdoors. When I came across this French Style Easel it looked like the perfect item. I also read mostly positive reviews on these style easels and knew it was just what we needed. While I have not been able to go outdoors yet with winter weather, we have been using them inside now for a few months. And although they can be used on a table with the legs retracted, we have been free standing them. I like how they are very adjustable to accommodate various height positions, whether you prefer to stand or sit. Also the capability of holding a large selection of canvas sizes. The drawer inside is capable of holding an ample supply of items for outdoor use. It is also fairly lightweight and comes with a shoulder strap for easier carrying. The only negative thing I can point to is that as others have commented, the wing nuts and screws are a bit small and therefore when trying to make sure everything is tight, they can hurt your fingers a bit. Some people have said that they replaced them with larger types but I have yet been able to find adequate replacement hardware. But overall I we are quite pleased with these easels.

I purchased this easel as a birthday gift for my fiance who is a hobby painter. I was originally budgeting for at least $150, but after reading all the positive reviews on this one I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because is just perfect for what he needs. It came ready to go- no assembly needed. There weren't any directions, so if you're not familiar with this style of easel it may take you a couple minutes to figure out all the adjustments. He sat and played with it for a little bit and was able to get accustomed with all the features fairly quickly. I like that it comes with a basic wooden pallet that fits in the storage area for traveling and also appreciate that it has straps for easy transport. We are going to take another reviewers advice about applying linseed oil to prevent it from drying out. You can tell that the wood will need to be maintained, but that is to be expected. One feature that I really appreciate is that the legs have rubber stoppers at the bottom so it won't damage our flooring. Overall, I think this is a great value. I'm sure there are fancier easels out there, but this is perfect for a hobbyist and actually quite a beautiful addition to our living room.

This easel had no instructions in the box. While it required no tools to assemble it, it would have made life a little easier had there been instructions included. I mean, who doesn't include instructions even in the most basic product? This is my main complaint about this product. However, once it was assembled (I honestly had a handy friend of mine assemble it), it worked fine. It's very basic and very nice looking. I don't think you could travel well with this unless you were on very steady ground outside. If you were to put this on grass for example, I don't think it would stay up very well. It is a little fragile on the legs. But fine for the home studio and flat surfaced floor. I'm using it and happy with it so far..

So far this easel is siiiick. I love all the features it has. Everything is well thought out and the design’s attention to detail and ease of use is evident. Not sure if it was supposed to come with an instruction manual— it comes assembled in the box, but in its folded/collapsed position. You have to unscrew then rescrew some wingnuts and such to get it standing upright. Just took a few minutes. We were able to do it just from looking a pics of the easel online, and I’m sure my daughter will get faster at building and collapsing the easel when changing locations. All in all, I’m satisfied with this purchase.
