Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn are great as are the supporting cast, and the story is engrossing with never a dull moment. Steve Martin seems to be regarded mainly as a comedian, bur he is an accomplished actor also.

I rented this movie and meant to watch it more than once within 48 hours, but wound up not.I like most movies with Goldie Hawn, she is such a great actor and Steve Martin compliments her well! This is such a great movie to watch just for fun OR if you need a little something to cheer you up :) I will buy this movie. Good, good, good -- good vibrations!I was having an 80s - 90s movie day on Saturday and just kicking back renting movies on Amazon prime. I wound up watching movies all afternoon, evening and after midnight LOL. FINALLY there was a good selection of FEEL GOOD comedies/romantic comedies from the 80s, 90s and WAY early 2000's flicks on Amazon. I'm so DONE with CGI horror flicks, super heros, violence, gore, hyper sexuality and PROFANITY.There were A TON of good movies back then, but you will have to buy them or KNOW the names of the ones you want to watch because you just can't really find them anymore like you could in the days of Blockbuster stores.

Beautiful house with secret spinning bookcase ( he built house himself as a grand romantic gesture) rewatching just to check out house again. Funny, keeps interest.

This is our favorite movie

Great storyline. I found myself smiling throughout the entire movie. Actress Goldie Hawn was at her best in this comedy. Excellent DVD quality. HOWEVER, if you want to access the closed captions/subtitles for this movie, then you must fast forward to the end of the movie to do this. Otherwise, the beginning of the DVD immediately starts playing the movie. Is that dumb or what?

You have to love Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn. They make a great pair for any movie. You will get lots of laughs from this movie.

I have always loved this movie. It's classic Steve Martin comedy without being over the top. The house in this movie is just gorgeous.

This is a film I love because a bad thing - lying - is depicted in such a humorous and positive way:Goldie Hawn lies her pants off at every opportunity and Steve Martin can't stand her fibbing,but when she shows him the advantages lying can bring to his life,he becomes a liar himself and ends up falling in love with Goldie.And so does the viewer.A very clever and well-written script that will hold your attention throughout97 minutes.The extras section has no filmed interviews with the stars but written information about them and their careers.There is a choice of five spoken languages:english,french,german,spanish and italian.

After 25 years we finally have Housesitter on Blu ray ! Great 1080p picture however - same poor 2.0 soundtrack that was on the DVD, and worst of all - IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY SUBTITLES ! Even the DVD had subtitles... (Being deaf I really appreciated them). If this is the appalling standard that Shock.com.au thinks is acceptable, then I will avoid any films they publish in future...

Finally! Our favorite comedy on blu-ray.The visual quality is a night and day difference compared to the DVD.The story is hilarious and uplifting, Stave Martin and Goldie Hawn in top-form. Plenty of laugh-out-load moments.I just wish some bonus specials behind-the-scenes etc were added, but it is strictly the movie itself. No extra's.The massive improvement in visual quality is worth the upgrade, We noticed a lot a details that were completely invisible on the DVD.It felt almost like watching a new movie.Highly recommended.Note: Although the box and amazon have this listed as playable in region B only, this is incorrect. It can be played on an USA (Region A) system just fine. We took a change as we ordered it from Amazon UK, and had it shipped to the USA as Amazon USA doesn't carry this blu-ray.It seems it is actually region-free, which any move should be anyways IMO.

I can watch this film time and time again. Why does it work so well? Chemistry...script...Pure charm...Wholesome sexiness."Purge, Gwen, Purge!" Ah...Revd Lipton! Inspired writing to name the episcopalian vicar after a cup of tea!And Steve Martin seems just right in the radiance of Ms Horn - did she ever turn in a bad performance? - and this one excels. All support cast superb. Excellent comments on modern architecture without bitterness. A triumph. May it live forever.

This movie is literally hilarious. Old now, of course but came across it recently and they still rock! Couldn’t stop laughing, what a tonic.
