Marjoram Leaves 1 Pound Bulk Bag

This marjoram arrived fresh and aromatic. Since this will last a long time, I needed to repackage it in the thicker, resealable container. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the product.

This is a good value. The taste is stronger/slightly more mediciney than the stuff I’ve used before, which might mean it is more fresh? Or maybe just the growing conditions are different? Still tastes really good when I use it in things.I used to be able to buy herbs without pokey little stem & stick-like pieces in it. That has changed over the last number of years. Marjoram seemed one of the last hold outs where I could find stuff that was truly just leaves and I didn’t constantly encounter those pokey stick like bits. Well, no longer. My local sources of marjoram first went away, and then came back with versions filled with the pokey little stick-like stems. I tried this, hoping it might be different, and if not, well, at least it was a cheap source of marjoram.I’m sad to say, this has little stem & small stick-like pokey pieces, just like ALL the other marjoram (and the majority of herbs available now) have. But, at least it is no worse than anything else I can buy (it *is* quite a bit better than some...the sticks in this tend to be on the smaller side, and not quite as prolific as in some herbs I have bought...I got a bottle of thyme from Penzeys that was outrageous in the quantity of big, not small, pokey stick pieces it had, and this marjoram is like a dream compared to that), and this was inexpensive.I’ll still keep an eye out for herbs that don’t contain those pokey little bits, like I used to be able to buy! If I ever find a seller with herbs like that again, they will have a *very* loyal customer in me!I have to be super careful cooking with these herbs that aren’t just the leaves, but include pokey bits, because I now have a kid with IBD, and those fibrous bits can really irritate their digestive tract & cause serious health consequences for them. I have spent ridiculous amounts of time hand-sorting the pokey bits out of herbs, so my kid could eat them. Because food without herbs to flavor, is a sad thing.It makes me so sad that I can’t seem to find herbs harvested the old way. I’d be willing to pay more for the extra labor!But, all in all, compared to other herbs on the market, this seems good quality, for good price.

When my dad visited me last, he left me with a recipe for making his famous meatballs (we call them Opa meatballs) and I was shocked how much marjoram goes into them. The kids really like them and we make them probably once or twice a month. Additionally, I make a mean tomato sauce that also mainly uses marjoram as spice. I had to go to the supermarket way too often to get more of those overpriced organic shakers, and with the current shortage of many things, they sometimes wouldn't even carry it. Needless to say, I wanted to buy in bulk and came across this product. I used it for the first time last weekend and the smell is fantastic. My tomato sauce was the best I ever made and I'm sure the freshness of this spice had an impact.I don't think I will need to order this again anytime soon but if I have to, I'll gladly reorder this!
