Perfect for my needs, the thickness of the paper is ideal for pencil and charcoal. I have used markers on it as well after doing so I suggest you place a scrap piece of paper in-between the pages while using markers.

i use this for my drawings and the paper is just the right weight ...well worth the money spent ,will buy again love that it was a 2 pack

I was leery ordering these through Amazon. I've had a fair number of slightly damaged orders recently (dinted book edges and buckled corners). What I can deal with in a book is not the same as what I'll accept with a sketch pad. The price was about the same as what I can buy them for at one of the local big box hobby/craft stores but that requires a dedicated trip to the other side of town and I decided to gamble on them arriving undamaged. They were VERY well packed both by the manufacturer and Amazon and arrived undamaged. Strathmore quality is unrivaled at their price point and the 400 series has been my go to paper for over 20 years. As long as Strathmore keeps up the quality I'll keep buying their pads and paper

Title says it all. The paper itself is great, the whole sketchpad together is great. The price is the same as all the other sketchpads out there, but the Strathmore 400 series sketchpad is the best! BUY IT!

Good weight, off white color softens background in ink/graphite drawings. Other papers too glaringly white. The surface is a medium texture, occasionally too rough for very fine pen work but subtle tooth for graphite and tonal work. I've used Strathmore paper for my entire career. It's never let me down... and the one time it did, the company made good on their quality. Gets the job done well. It's spiral binding is a little tighter than some (at least in the 9x12, haven't tried the other sizes), so it can get a little 'puffed up' and tight as the pages get used, but this also means it holds everything relatively tight and safe. It's a little brick that I can thrown in my backpack with no worries. My Canson Universal, with a bigger spiral, slides all over the place if I'm not careful. The paper quality itself is roughly the same as Canson sketch paper. Got the two pack since it was so cost effective, and let me just say, I love it! The paper feels wonderful to draw on, pencil goes on so smooth! Not just that, this paper works great with copics! I used both copic brush markers and classic, I will say using brush tips felt easier to blend. I recommend having a paper or two behind the page you're drawing on, since it does bleed through. That's not something that bothers me personally, I love this paper! 💗

I was disappointed with the quality of this paper. Good enough for sketching or line drawing, but no good for shading. If you want to do any kind of serious drawing, this is not for you.
