The Savage Sword of Conan the Original Marvel Years Omnibus 2 Hardcover – November 19, 2019

As you already have read in the synopsis, SSoC is by far the best. I was a bit too young for the 1st early issues, but after having been given an issue I was hooked. As a grew older I learned about Robert E. Howard, then paid more attention to the artist's and inker's as I developed favorites over the years. Even though I didn't have all of the first prints, my original collection was lost due to flooding. The issues I was able to save I didn't want to open as they are still in good condition. I missed reading them greatly. Dark Horse's edition published the main stories, which was fine as I have them all, but they lacked the pinups and the backpage stories. Even though Darkhorse is a cheaper route, you'll be missing out on a great many things that Vol. 1 and Vol 2 Omnibus covers. Some may frown that SSoC is black and white. I don't as I love the art as much as the stories. Every cover is in color and shown. The pages is high quality paper, even better than the 1st prints, as you won't find print smudges or missing text. Swords & Scrolls is included in these volumes. Pinups as well. What I find truly special is Roy Thomas' prologue giving the reader insight into what was happening during that time to put every issue together and send to print. Which I believe is unique to these volumes. Even a bit of politics regarding decisions involved. SSoC in my opinion faithfully reproduces Robert R. Howard's novels in comic form, and even better, not have the Comics Code Authority looking over their shoulder. For those that may have the first prints but miss the stories, get these volumes to preserve those first prints. You will not be disappointed by CROM!

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading these. The books are sturdy and well-produced, the art is crisp, and the stories are fun. I plan on purchasing all future volumes.*****HOWEVER: I can't purchase future volumes from Amazon.com because they don't package them properly. I bought the first two volumes and both arrived with dinged corners. These books are much too heavy to be placed free-standing in an oversized box with nothing securing them. They will inevitably arrive damaged that way.

VOL II in the SSOC omnibus series. Great illustrations complete with most of the extras contained in the original magazines. It would have been nice to see the inclusion of the other stories mentioned in each issues table of contents, like adventures with Kull. I would have gone with a different picture for the dust cover. But it's a fantastic edition.

Arrived quickly, New...pages 417,418 printing Mistake? Page doubled over at seam torn piece size of thumbnail missing but able ti live with.

Good for fans of Conan

I love SSoC and really like the content of this omnibus. I’m giving 3 stars because amazon should do a better job of packing and shipping. The book arrived in an undamaged box but it had a notable ding on the upper front corner along the spine. For a $90 book they should do a better job.

I really love these black and white Conan adventures, The Savage Sword of Conan magazine reprints. They are targeted for a more mature audience so it is not toned down like the color comics series, Conan the Barbarian. The art is fantastic and the story telling (by Roy Thomas) is superb. In general, the reprints in this volume are complete reprints of the original magazines minus the ads and stories of other Robert E. Howard characters such as Solomon Kane. The issues which only contain Conan stories are complete reprints but issues containing other other characters, only the Conan related stories and articles are included. The hard cover and superb binding were really made to last. The dust jacket really helps to protect the book. Get both volume 1 and this volume (volume 2) before they get out of print. Can't wait for volumes 3 and 4!
