MakerBotMP08325 Tough Smart Extruder+ for Replicator + and 5th Generation Replicator (1.75 mm)

This extruder is made specifically for MakerBot TOUGH PLA. Fortunately, you can use any brand/type of PLA you prefer. However, to use the TOUGH extruder, you must use MakerBot print... the print software identifies the TOUGH extruder attached to your printer... and you can now use the TOUGH extruder on you printer. Unfortunately, as long as you use the TOUGH extruder, your printer will only accept G-Code from MakerBot Print which identifies the TOUGH extruder (regardless of the type of PLA you have loaded). So, you can't just pull up old G-Code you created prior to purchasing the TOUGH extruder and expect it to print. You'll get a warning that states the current G-Code you loaded was not created for the TOUGH extruder. This is a huge pain in the butt. You printer will not even print the sample files located on your printer because they weren't created specifically for the TOUGH extruder. BTW... TOUGH PLA is more than twice the cost of other PLA types. I'd suggest you purchase this extruder only if you expect to use predominately TOUGH PLA.

Had to return this first one because it broke in the first couple of days. Replacement works amazingly after 3 months of printing
