The stainless steel base is the key for these spikes lasting so long
I purposely searched for this type of pigeon spikes. My main reason was simple; living in Arizona the more commonly found version have a plastic base, and end up falling apart within a few years. This brand of spikes have a stainless steel base, welded to each spike. I have several sets of these and have had no problems with them falling apart. These spikes come with stainless steel screws and rubber washers to ensure a leak free attachment to your roof. I have not used these attachments as my roof and chimney are difficult to reach and I really don't want to fall. I found using generous amounts of silicone caulk applied to the base hold best. I allow a week to allow for the caulk to cure, then use elastomeric roof coating (stay cool) to cover and prevent sun rot from destroying the caulking and assisting in adherence of the spikes.

Work well but you will get stabbed putting them up.
Once I was done with the installation, it worked very well. I have a problem with doves that try to nest on top of a fluorescent light bar in my carport by my shop. They make a huge mess underneath, both while they are building it and afterward. The spikes are needle sharp and I had several poke holes before I was done. And there weren't enough of the mounting attachments. I probably used too many by placing them too close together. So I have 2 extra sections with no mounting hardware. I will try contacting the manufacturer.

Expensive, but the best quality
I use these to protect my water garden from raccoons.They work great at deterring their destructive forays into expensive plants like lotuses and water lilies.Highly recommended and durable...

Good durable product that does work as intended.
These have held up well for the last 6 moths + in a marine environment without rusting. I cut the spikes down to about 3.5 inches length (tough metal) since they did not need to be so long for my purpose on the deck railing. The birds definitely give their respect to these spikes.

We have used these same spikes in another area, and they have completely eliminated the birds attempting to roost or nest. Simple solution for a messy problem. The new application is for our new wrap-around tile roof on our southwestern style home, placing them on the support structure beneath the edge.

Worth a try
Not fool proof, but seemed to help. Definitely need to tack or tape down - as i learned the hard way.

Used on bird feeder to keep squirrels off
Made a ring of several layers of spikes encircling the squirrel baffle on by bird feeder. They were previously just getting a running start and jumping over it. Use at least 2 rows offset from one another pointed downwards for maximum effect. Their instructions are pretty comprehensive. Made in the good 'ol Quad Cities, USA. High quality.
