Lightning fast and ULTRA sharp!
to put it shortly, this thing is truly amazing. the hype about the autofocus speed is all true; never would I have expected a lens in this focal range and of this aperture to be the fastest focusing lens I've ever used. Granted, I'm no well-versed pro, just a hobbyist with expensive taste, but damn its good. The rumors about sharpness and image quality are all true as well, as I've been hard-pressed to see even a hint of CA in any photo or a change in sharpness throughout the aperture range. overall it renders a great image and undoubtedly earns its GM badge. for comparision, I personally own the 70-200 2.8 GM as well, and although its defintely no slouch, its autofocus is a bit loud and the sharpness is honestly a little sub-par at the long end of the zoom range. Ive heard previous gripes from other owners, apparently the QC on that lens isn't very good as some people get perfect copies. I've also seen complaints about other GM or Zeiss branded lenses, mainly the 85 1.4 and the 35 1.4 respectively, and I think since the days of those lenses Sony has really gotten their priorities straight. so far everyone has had nothing but praise for both this lens and the 24mm 1.4 GM, and I'm hopeful that Sony will keep it up, hopefully releasing version twos for the lenses that weren't so GM as they should have been.

This is my favorite Sony Lens I own
This Lens is AWESOME! Just the right weight and takes absolutely the best pictures out of all my Sony Lenses. Works Great with my Sony A7M3 and Sony A9. The eye focus on this lens is so fast it's hard to miss a shot. As a Concert photographer, the images are just amazing, Beautiful colors, razor sharp and the accuracy is unbelievable. I HIGHLY recommend this lens Great for portraits, weddings and Live Events and so much more! It is my "Go To" Lens.

Excellent Optical Tool
This 135 GM is the best AF prime lens in my bag. It focuses extremely fast and quietly on my A9II, on which it balances well when paired with a battery grip. It has an excellent minimum focusing distance which increases its versatility. I often shoot events in low light settings, where my much more versatile 70-200 2.8 isn’t quite fast enough—that’s when I reach for this lens.

Sharpest Lens I have ever owned!
Sharpest lens I have ever owned! I was a Nikon shooter for the past 20+ years. In my opinion, the 70-200vr 2.8 was the sharpest lens I have ever shot a photo with. Now that I have switched systems, I still love that lens. Now to this; the Sony 135 GM 1.8. Again, in my opinion, This is the fastest focusing and sharpest lens I have owned. I love the aperture ring. It comes in very handy. The only downside to this lens is the PRICE! It's expensive! However, you get what you pay for. If you can handle the price tag, GET IT!

Super sharp, fast aperture, pinpoint focus
What more could you want? I use this for wildlife and portraits. The fast aperture makes for low shutter speeds to capture motion and excellent bokeh for faces.

Quick spot on focus
I haven't found anything yet that I dislike.

I got mine Second Hand on Amazon. Perfect!
I paid $1499.00 from D-Solution "used" on Amazon. It had a blemish on the barrel, barely noticeable. It is a wonderful lens and focuses very fast. Very sharp. Love it!

Hate buying from 3rd party
Product is great but came with a damaged lens cap. Unacceptable

While many would use this for portraits, it can be a great night time landscape or cityscape lens. It's relatively light, especially when compared to some other brands with the same specs. I'm quite pleased with the performance of this lens, and carry it wherever I go. While the attached image is a 16 panel mosaic, it can be used to capture a single frame when imaging something at the appropriate distance. The medium telephoto reach is ideal for capturing a wide FOV from a target just a few hundred meters away. Auto focus is fast, quiet, and accurate. It has an aperture ring which can be clicked or declicked for a smooth transition between focal ratios. The only thing I wish it had is an aperture lock switch. But then not many G Master lenses offer this. Over all, I'm pleased with this lens. The price is steep, but so are all G Master lenses.

This lens has inspired me to sell the majority of my other gear. Everything I shoot with it is magical. Attached some sample photos straight from the camera 0 editing. Paired with my A7R iii
