TerraLux MiniStar30MR-EX LED Upgrade TLE-300MR-EX

The bulb is very bright and seems to extend the battery life. Very crisp and no dark spots and yes, It will hurt if you look into it. Installation is very easy but will only work one way. The tit in the center of the assembly presses on the lens of the housing and is used to hold the bulb into place. With that said, I did drop test it finally. The bulb survived but the glass lens for the housing shattered due to the tit pressing on it. This is an easy fix with using a clear plastic lens. It will scratch easier but will not effect the light output. You do loose the flood/spot feature Mag Light is famous for but the bulb has three output settings which is a nice feature.

At first it worked magnificently! I work in a cavern and i used it to light up different things during my tours. It worked wonderfully. It practically lit up everything. There's a canyon that goes down 207 and you can see the light from the next room. You'd just have to be there to see.It made some really high pitched noises when you switched to the medium and low settings. The noise got louder for the low setting. My guess is that it's just the left over voltage or something.Recently it only works on the low setting and i hear all kinds of strange noises from the circuit board. I don't know what the problem is exactly, the connections all look fine. If i can find a way to fix this, i would give this product 5 stars.The description of what flashlights these fit in confused me. I was under the impression it would fit in any maglite.

This is an awesome upgrade for the rechargeable mag life. Offers very bright light, and it is not the blue hue that some LED flashlights have. You could just replace your bulb with a brighter one (welch allen) but then you have the possibility of melting the inside of the flashlight. Plus this item offers 3 different brightness levels, the lowest one supposedly lasting 8 hours on a full charge. My only gripe is not being able to focus the beam, but then again the viewing area is wide enough and there is no dark spot in the middle (as opposed to flood with a regular bulb). The throw is more than enough and will easily light up the neighbors house down the street. Overall a very good product.

The cost is somewhat high as a direct replacement for the regular setup, that's why I took off one star. However, if you use your maglight daily in your profession and you need dependability, this is a good solution. The quality of the light is as good as before - a bit of a blue tint but quite functional. No problems in changing out the reflector assembly and old bulb and the led bulb unit fit perfectly. You do lose the ability to change from "spot" to "flood" beam, but I rarely used that feature anyway. I see little use for the three brightness levels - I always want the brightest, but maybe some applications will benefit from this feature.

I have had the same mag light for over 10 yrs. I am in law enforcement. I saw this upgrade and love it. I am very very pleased with this light. HOWEVER... make sure you use a plastic lense. what the photo does not show you is the large tab in the middle of the led's. This pushes on the glass. I dropped the flashlight this past weekend and it shattered my glass lense. Amazon was great and getting me a replacement lense. but I went with the plastic lense. Also cut the tab down so it does not put as much pressure on the lense.

Purchased 2 of these. One for me and one for my dad as a christmas present. Mine works fine but his did not work despite the fact that we have (or thought we had) the same Mag-lite. Both of our lights are over 20 years old but mine is one year newer and something must have changed in the circuitry. Do some research on you specific light model before purchasing. Otherwise its a good product. 4 stars only because the light no longer has the spot to flood adjustability.

This bulb makes me feel like I've been reunited with an old friend!!! :-)For anyone who uses or depends on artificial lighting daily for work or play AND uses or has access to a rechargeable Maglite, don't hesitate on buying one of these bulbs. The intesity of the light is incredible compared to the standard bulb and because it's LED the battery life should last much longer.Although the bulb is nearly the cost of the rechargeable Maglite system, it is well worth the money. It's too bad that Maglite doesn't get with the program and produce their Magcharger system with either this bulb or something similar that would produce even more light.Until I bought the TERRALUX bulb, I had stopped carrying my Maglite because the smaller, compact pocket LED lights were brighter and more useful to me than my Maglite. The Maglite had become obsolete. But now that I have the TERRALUX bulb, my Maglite will be back in my equipment bag.

This item is VERY poorly designed, the only way to install this product is to do it blind. You can't see where to insert to very thin leads into the holes. PLUS one lead was broken, which makes the install impossiable. I mean really, I paid close to 50 $ dollars for something so poorly made and designed !!!!
