and not always easily accessible. I am old school
The wealth of resources inside of this book is definitely worth the $12.00 purchase. (Gathering resources, documents via online, etc is time consuming, and not always easily accessible. I am old school, I love to carry my book and read it during my lunch hours and travels to work etc.) My fiance and I do not have a wedding party, so most of the planning, prep will be done by us, a few crafty friends, and a darling day of coordinator. I purchased this book after becoming newly engaged, December, 2015, our wedding is June 3, 2017, so while we are counting down to our special day, this book is my primary resource. I have a pocket sized journal (by Moleskine), I use Wedding Wire, and I use Pinterest. My fiance uses a notepad/ tablet with access to Wedding Wire and Pinterest. Downsizing your tools and maximizing your time is imperative. I was able to gift this book to a woman from my church who is getting married in the Fall of 2017, so I am excited to share how we are able to stretch our dollars and focus on the details of our weddings that's most important to us. I am so excited. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting married.

Textbook Status
Really enjoyed this book! While some of the info is kind of redundant/common sense (to most people anyway); there is A LOT of useful information!I really enjoyed how the book was written (it has a super funny tone), and there is some fun DIY ideas. The back of the book has real weddings by people who had budgets ranging from under $5k to $30k; with a breakdown of what they did/didn't have and where the money was allocated. I found that to be super useful in deciding what was going to be important in our wedding. All in all, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to throw a fun, original wedding that won't leave you massively in debt!

THE book for brides against the WIC (Dana's term for the wedding industrial complex)
The book has awesome suggestions about how to do a wedding on a budget that doesn't necessarily feel 'budget.' If the whole elaborate big money feel of every wedding magazine out there turns you off, this is the book for you. I deducted a star because I do wish it had more of the practical to do lists/time lines in the back or something so the book could be used more interactively throughout the whole process. To be fair, she does direct you to her blog which has a lot of templates that you can download.

Awesome Book!
I love this book, so many great tips and tricks to saving money. I am planning a super quick wedding, got engaged and set the date 6 months later and didn't want to spend a fortune on the wedding. I love the entire chapter dedicated to mason jars lol. This book is awesome!

The best book for brides on a budget
This book is really down to earth. It doesnt sugar coat anything. It not like these other wedding planning tip books with brides who spent 20-50k ( which is un realistic for "budget" if i day) Lots of tips that really prompt you to think outside the box. A must buy for brides to be.

Not so broke-ass bride...
While there were some great ideas in this book, I found myself skipping most of the items. The most inexpensive wedding in the book was $10,000, and everything was held at a church with friends and family doing a lot of the leg work. I was very discouraged to see most of the "Broke-ass budgets" were so high. $25,000 for a wedding is no where near "Broke-Ass!!" I must be really broke, because my wedding budget is half of that! And, I am making due just fine, thank you! I will take some of the advice, but if you are interested in buying this book you probably already know most of the suggestions that you can take away from it. My advice, online research, be patient, don't buy anything impulsively, use your friends when you can, and price shop, price shop, price shop!!

Do yourself a favor and save your money and not buy this book.
Let me start out by saying I was EXTREMELY excited to read this book after reading all of the positive reviews. However, if I could return this book-- I would. It was a total waste of money since I learned absolutely nothing new or valuable from this book. I had very high expectations for this book and was sorely disappointed. I wish I would've not spent the money on this book since now I'm even more broke! To put things in perspective, the author stated in her book something along the lines of: "By bartering my social media/marketing skills for some vendors, I was able to cut $20,000 off my wedding cost..." WAIT, WHAT? Cut $20,000? That means your wedding is NOT budget friendly if that only cut down a little bit of your total wedding cost.If you have been on Pinterest or Weddingbee then you'll know everything that's in this book. There are no real money saving tips or tricks or insights. I'm sorry but this book is not helpful for any real broke-ass brides. Do yourself a favor and save your money and not buy this book. This book offered me no new information, nothing I didn't already know from googling, Pinterest, Weddingbee, etc. They are all common sensical ideas that anyone who has internet access can easily read about. If you haven't been living under a rock for the past couple of years then you should already know mostly everything in this book.

SO helpful!!
I love this book!!! I recently got engaged and instantly was overwhelmed by the cost of anything I pinned on pinterest. Dana is an amazing writer I felt like I was talking to a friend, not reading another boring "how to" book. I would absolutely recommend this, even if you're not exactly under the most "broke ass" budget, she has ideas for a wide range of budgets. This is a easy, quick read and honestly has helped me more than any other research I've done this far on wedding planning. It would be an awesome gift for someone who is engaged!

Fantastic!
As a newly engaged lady feeling overwhelmed by the amount to do in planning a wedding and having no idea where to start, this book gave me a great base to start from, gave me an idea of costs, told me what elements are involved and all whilst making me laugh! I'd highly recommend it to other ladies out there!

Perfect gift
I bought this for my recently-engaged best friend for an engagement gift basket. We're pretty young so she had a hoot with the title! She said there was a lot of useful information on planning on a tighter budget. I haven't read it personally, but for the price and decent content you can't really go wrong.
