They Changed the World: Bell, Edison and Tesla (Campfire Graphic Novels)

Perfect for readers of ANY age.
Worth every penny. As an older reader I am probably past the intended demographic of this book, that made no difference. The narrative is sophisticated and fair to the three men it profiles. Yes, Edison was often a rat, pirating from both Bell and Tesla, on the other hand, after Tesla lost everything in a lab fire, Edison provided him with free lab space to recover both scientifically and psychically. Part inspirational biography of three geniuses, it is also a cautionary tale. workaholic Edison, barely knew his family, even more intently focused Tesla had no family, and Bell constantly strove for a balance between inventing and his personal life. I thought I knew the stories of these men but this book provided information that I did not know previously. The illustrations are wonderful and the writing, brisk and informative without bogging down in scientific or technical jargon. Perfect for readers of ANY age.

History presented in a manner that is interesting to anyone
I bought this as a gift for my 3rd grader based upon the good reviews. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, the subject isn't something she would normally be interested in, but my daughter didn't want to put it down and ended up finishing the book in her free time over a couple days. It's illustrated like a comic book and I think that helped peak her interest. Based upon how well this was received, I've went looking for other illustrated novels by the same author.

Tesla, Bell and Edison ..lives, works and rivalry..in Graphics
I never thought a graphic novel of around 100 pages can given so much information on three great scientist. Credit to Lewis Helfand who has brilliantly intermixed stories of these contemporary great men,as they did cross their paths being working in the same field of electricity and sound. Beyond their contribution towards science, this book also throws a light on the personalities of these people.Edison was a man of resources but a shrewd person, ruthless employer, a workaholic and of capitalist temperament. He wasn't a family man at all He went on to any extents to kill the competition (and competitors too ?). He relied on trial and error, employed men and material, focused on profit and loss.Bell, on the other hand, was man of work life balance, was a pianist, ethical in his endeavors and his passion towards science was for contributing to the world and not for fame n fortune.Tesla stands out very distinctly, living a lonely life, dedicating his life to his passions. Unlike Edison, he didnt have much resources at his disposal but he was a man of creative genius. But never got a due credit for his contribution. He even wasnt given an honor of silence upon his death. Marconi's patent claim on wireless technology was voided by the Supreme Court and credit was given to Tesla..but alas ! After Tesla's death.Illustrator Naresh Kumar and Colorist Vijay Sharma has given justice to the graphics.A brilliant story telling for biographies. This review is for Graphic novel by Campfire (ISBN : 9789380741871)

Brilliant - one of the best biography books I've read
Brilliant book!Such a pleasure to visualize the lives of Edison, Bell and Tesla right from their childhood to their end of life. The author and illustrator have crafted a splendid work of art and story telling and really brought their lives to our imagination. They include the human aspect of these three great inventors, little known facts about them, their failures and successes and their approach to life and science. This book totally brings to life three great men who have had such a powerful impact on all of humanity. The only small grouse I have is the book cover. It does not do justice to the book at all. Please don't go by the cover. Buy the book, you will want to read it more than once, and pass it on to adults and kids alike.
