Why won’t you give a core charge price? Other people have asked as well.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Core charges vary and depend on several factors, therefore we take it on a case-by-case basis. Most people ask if there is a core charge because they are under the impression their cracked heads aren't acceptable, when they actually are. If you don't have cores to return at all, please message us directly so that we may better assist you.

Already answered but want to make sure. You charge a core on a Brand new head? You pay us for the core or take our cores for free?

Hey Friends!
I want to share a recent experience I had with my son's 2003 CRV.  This past summer after 273,000 miles his car needed a head gasket.  The mechanic suggested we replace the entire head.  Which we did.  He wanted us to purchase the head, so a quick Google search and I decided to purchase it at ADV Cylinder Heads out of Chatsworth, California.  With shipping, it came to $402.47.  It arrived within a few days, and we dropped it at the mechanic.  He finished the work and the CRV was back and running, better than before.  I have to say that we were very impressed with the performance of the car and we owe it all to the new head!  We were very pleased and the car runs flawlessly still to this day! Unfortunately there is a downside to the story regarding this company. When they ship the head to you apparently they don't charge a core fee up front and expect you to return the old head within 21 days.  Unfortunately the only place that this is mentioned is on their website. On the receipt that they send you it says nothing about having to return the old head. That being said,  I researched back and ultimately did see that I missed this on the website the first time, and their page has since been updated from when I ordered in the Summer.  The core return info is now more upfront.  Ultimately, I accept the responsibility of neglecting to send the old head back within the 21 days.  However, this is where everything goes extremely wrong with the entire transaction. After the 21 days has passed, rather than ADV Cylinder Heads contacting me (they had both my phone number and email) me regarding the return, they instead turn you in to a collection agency. So unfortunate, as we are an upstanding family, never late on our bills, and up to this point have had an excellent credit score.  I started receiving calls from the collection company demanding that I owe them $280 for this cylinder head not being returned. Once I found out about this charge against us, I immediately contacted ADV Cylinder Heads and spoke to Clarence.  He explained to me the entire situation and was completely without apology regarding turning in this transaction to the collection agency. He said that is what he does to everyone that neglects to return the head within the given amount of time required.  Upon asking him, he even confirmed that they don't contact their customer first, just forward it to collection.  I still had the core so I immediately returned it to them, which of course they gladly accepted. In my opinion since they now had the core back the company should have dropped the charges and pulled my info from the collection agency. They did not however.  It took me several calls and finally Inwas able to convince them to lessen the charges, but my good credit it ruined. Clarence, I truly hope you never have to personally endure the inconvenience that you choose to impose on you customers. Again, I realize that I am fully responsible for not returning this on time and unfortunately I missed this part on their website, however, there was no mention on the receipt or any of the paperwork received.  However I feel the biggest issue is that this company without contacting me first blindly turned me in to a collection agency, which has ruined my credit. What a way to treat your customer, bite the hand that feeds you!  All that to say, I realize that there are many of you out there with older Hondas like ours and there may be a point where you need to replace a major motor part. If it's a cylinder head, I would think twice about patronizing ADV Cylinder Heads.  I hope that you will share my story so that others will not fall victim to this company's poor business practices.

Thanks for reaching out! These heads are only compatible with the Magnum engine from the early 90s to the early 2000s. We do carry LA style heads, but they are high performance.
