The book was as advertised and on time.

I had consulted many other sources of data for accurate information on batteries and none were even close to this book. It is laid out in a manner that is easy to understand and the data is very precise and scientific. A must have for anyone who works with or uses batteries which in this day and age is just about everyone.

I bought this book when I realized I needed a 1-stop shop whenever I wanted to figure out how to get the most out of my rechargable batteries. Internet searches always gave me conflicting results and mixed advice. I call tech support for a battery company and I still get mixed advice.The book does get a little technical, but if you're science minded and like graphs-- all the more reason to buy the book. It's well organized, and the table of contents helps you go to the chapters that'll answer your questions quickly.

Overall, I found this book to be very informative. Since I deal with communications and the varied batteries involved with them, it is nice to have a book in layman's language to help educate others as well as to learn for myself. Since battery technology is evolving so fast I know this book may be dated in the not too distant future, but it is worth having. I did think, however, how it was laid out was a bit odd at times with a few topics seeming to disappear then reappear later on in the book or being repeated.

As someone who dabbles in batteries and looking to incorporate different types ( Ni Cad, AGM, Lead Acid etc) into my energy centered venture this publication while I do not want to go so far as to say invaluable, going forward it will be and has been very useful to me. Another feature that is very relavant is that it is up to date and current in an industry that is exploding with change and new technologies.F.GSan Diego

Incredibly well written and if you work in a technical field (such as I do), this tome is indispensable. I only wish this guy gave certification courses as I would sign up for one as soon as I had poured through this book.

If you use batteries, this book tells you which one to use for your best performance.I assume that this book will be updated again since battery technology is improving. For instance, when glass batterys get into production it will make electric cars milage increase by weighing less and providing more energy.

At this moment I'm at page 55, not ready to ascend yet however there's no way I will feel any regret for buying this comprehensive book, I've learned so much more about lead acid development , there are still questions but that's likely personal.As for portable batteries : clear explanations about characteristics and differences between types, certainly helpful when confronted with replacing Li types.

Para quem troca de telefone todo ano, não faz diferença, mas para mim que uso o mesmo aparelho por muitos anos, a bateria durar hoje o mesmo que ela durava quando o aparelho era novo, faz muita diferença.O resumo para facilitar, é carregar até 65% e descarregar até 30% ou 20%.Com isso o celular vai ter a mesma autonomia por muitos anos, mesmo que precise carregar 2 vezes ou mais por dia. E dependendo do seu celular, cada carga vai levar apenas 30 ou 60 min na velocidade lenta.Mas isso não é tudo e o livro trás mais informações importantes que lidam com os fatores de stress dos vários tipos de baterias em uso. Ele tem ótimas explicações sobre a relação entre carga máxima, profundidade de descarga e vida útil para os vários tipos de baterias. Não apenas as de celular.Para tirar o maior proveito, leia do começo ao fim.Há fabricantes que permitem ajustar seus aparelhos para carregar até 65%. Eu já fiz esse ajuste em notebooks. Estou esperando esse ajuste aparecer nos celulares também. Até lá, eu uso um app que me avisa que a bateria carregou até 65% e então puxo o cabo.Boa leitura.

Gutes Buch, wenn man sich einen ersten Überblick über Batterien und Akkus verschaffen möchte. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es, weil einige Daten im Buch veraltet sind und ein Kapitel über das Thema Elektrochemie fehlt.

A very comprehensive treatment of the subject.

Even though it reads like a sales brochure for Cadex at times, it is still filled with wealth of valuable and understandable information. I would have liked to see more detail on building series and parallel battery sets and on battery management systems, but overall a worthwhile read.
