You cannot improve upon perfection!
Let me begin with the negatives: there are no negatives about the Weber Q1400 electric grill. There are only positives, sincerely. This grill might be small but it is mighty in terms of its cooking power, how it fits into any size space, from very small to large. It also is surprisingly lightweight -- 50lbs -- and can be lifted and moved easily. I particularly like the facts that this grill is electric: no more heavy gas/propane tanks to haul and elimination of charcoal and accompanying issues such as the aftermath of cooking (ash, etc.), wet or damp charcoal, difficulty lighting charcoal (usually when the grill is needed for an Event), and so on.More simply summarized: here is a grill that can be fitted to small apartment balconies but can be used for large dinner parties, picnics, and tailgate events. It is supremely easy to use in terms of the settings: all that you need and probably want, but not "over the top." I just want to grill; I am not an ultra-chef. Simple is best, I think, in operation, size, and...appearance and assembly.Assembly: there is very, very little. One has only to attach the side pieces to the body. It required ~90 seconds side and no sophisticated tools. Easy to comprehend instructions are included, if you want instructions. The grill is ready for use within minutes of its arrival at one's home.Durability: I cook outside approximately 350 out of 365 days per year. I cook in all sorts of weather, provided I have proper locations to protect the grill from rain, snow, sleet, and so on. This is the second Weber electric grill I have had in the past 20 years, and this is no exaggeration.Sturdy: no question about whether this will last more than one season. It is a Weber for one thing, and the materials (cast iron) are durable. The grill is evenly-balanced so that it is seated firmly where placed. The grates likewise are set evenly and firmly in place: no worries about a grate flipping up and spattering grease or, worse, falling on the ground; all issues with which some friends and I have encountered with other brands of grills.Appearance: elegant. The appearance is sleek, the curved lines handsome but functional as well in terms of the even distribution of heat. Here quite sincerely, is a happy match between form and function.I have written only 2-3 reviews of items I have purchased. I am doing so in the case of my Weber Q1400 because it is that good. Several friends and neighbors were skeptical that something so small -- in comparison to most outdoor grills -- could be so supremely effective in use.I cannot more highly recommend this small but mighty grill. I think you will be pleased with your purchase, to say the least.

Excellent Electric Grill
4 YEAR UPDATE - ELEMENT FAILURE AND REPLACEMENTI had previously replaced the broken GFCI plug with just a standard replacement plug - DON'T DO THIS. We noticed the grill had an issue because the lights in the other room were flickering, indicating the grill was drawing more current than it should (it was plugged into an interior outlet without a GFCI). I've since learned that heating elements can break down causing the inner coils to touch the outer tube, which is grounded. With the correct GFCI plug, this will trip, indicating the issue and protecting the electrical circuit. Moral of the story, don't bypass safety features, or at the very least make sure you're plugging your grill into a GFCI protected outlet.Ordered a replacement aftermarket element for $28 - doesn't fit perfect, but works just fine or you can order the $60 OEM element. 5 minutes later, WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS.Still love love love this grill. Not the hottest, not the largest, but solid construction and no worries about running out of fuel or issues with apartment balcony rules.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------2 YEAR UPDATE - CORD FAILURE AND CHEAP REPAIRSo after a few seasons in the elements, the GFCI on my cord seems to have failed (this is the big lump with the Test/Reset buttons). Weber sells a complete replacement cord for $100+, but I wasn't too keen on that. Here's how to fix it cheap: Order an "Inline GFCI Replacement Cord", Amazon has one called "ELEGRP G1215CA" that should work for $17. Cut your Weber cord, strip the insulation and install the replacement.Otherwise, what I said in my original review still stands. Grill is nice and convenient and never runs out of fuel.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I love this grill. Been using it for about 5 months for burgers, hot dogs, fish, tenderloin, and vegetables. It's as good as a standard wall outlet grill could get. The construction is top notch - this thing is solid. Base and lid are nice and thick, grates are spaced nicely and pretty heavy. This is not a camping grill. Cooking is real easy, takes some time to preheat, but never runs out of fuel so I don't mind. Easy to leave on afterwards and burn off the grease as well. Because the heat element is exposed, there's plenty of smoking and grill flavor. Don't try to use this indoors!Limitations: 1560 Watts is about 5300 BTU, which is about half of even the smallest portable propane grills. All consumer electric grills will have this amount of power or less - it's just a function of how much power a standard outlet can provide. Things don't sear quite as nice on this grill. That said, you never run out of fuel!Overall, very happy with this purchase. Well worth the price. Excellent for grilling salmon.

Flavor, Flavor, Flavor! Hot, Hot, Hot!
OMG! AS GOOD AS A CHARCOAL BBQ! I bought this because I live in a Apt. Complex that requires any bbq to be electric. After A LOT of deliberation and research I decided on good old weber. OMG. Just used it for the first time tonight! I grabbed a smoker box and a bag of hickory chips. Threw the chips in. Pre heated the grill. Threw beef short ribs(6), halved potatoes(6), and whole (2) ears of corn. Plus the smoker box on there. Put it on high. Gorgeous Grill marks! Meat and potatoes were crispy on the out side and tender on the inside. Corn was juicy & sweet. Husband was VERY VERY IMPRESSED! Pulled the pieces out to wash. Wiped off lid with a Clorox wipe. Easy peasy. Highly Recommend. Don't know about how long it will last. It has a 5 year limited warranty. But I also bought the extra 4 year warranty just to be sure. Came well packaged. So easy to put together. Only need a Philips screw driver to screw the handle to the lid. Put the handle on first. Then attach lid to body with pins. Put grates in. Slip in oil pan underneath. Plug in cord to grill. Plug 3 prong cord into wall. Turn on high. Wait 15 mins or so and its ready to go. That easy. It's really Smokey with the smoker box (of course) but the flavor cant be beat! If your looking for authentic bbq. Buy this! Seriously! Its easy to clean. Easy to assemble. Works as good as charcoal grill, tastes as good. Gets really really hot! You got nothing to lose. Except flavor if you buy one of those other electric grills that's just a glorified hot plate! Dont forget some wood chips & a smoker box as well!
