I love these shoes!!!
I'm a huge fan of Bass weejun loafers, and I've been wearing them almost exlusively for many years. They're made of 100% leather, from top to bottom. What does this mean? This means that these shoes require a week or two of breaking-in time before they conform to your feet & fit PERFECTLY. After that, it's literally a custom fit your feet will LOVE. It also means they breathe and are more healthy & comfortable to wear than shoes with man made uppers, liners or soles. These shoes are really well made out of good quality materials. They're classically stylish, durable, re-soleable, perfectly comfortable, they last & last & they're worth every penny.A word about fit: these run large. I wear a size 10 so I order these in 9.5 - a 1/2 size DOWN from my regular shoe size. It would be helpful if the first time you tried these you go to a store where you can try them on to determine your size. Pay attention to where your toe is in the toe box, because these will stretch out a bit width-wise and your shoes will suddenly be too loose, so don't base your desired fit solely on width.Long story short, I HIGHLY recommend these shoes.

Nice and wide, but hell is quite loose
The shoes were wider than I expected, which is to say as wide as I had hoped they would be, in the front. However, the heel is pretty loose even with a little doohickey pad in there to help keep the foot in the shoe. A half size smaller would have been too small. I'd forgotten how these loafers, whicile stylish and comfortable for most-of-the-day wear, have no shock absorption, so I can definitely feel that at the end of the day. And they have no arch support; however, I put my orthotics in and that helped a great deal with support and with filling up the shoe. I just have to get used to the heel being really loose and feeling like I'm wearing mules or clogs when I walk. I'm still glad I got these shoes.

As good as ever, top quality. Weejuns are the fine wine of footwear and get better with age
As good as ever, I'm so relieved. I haven't worn weejuns in a decade and they're still top notch, hard leather, stitched together like they're expected to survive The Rapture. They WILL be stiff the first couple of wearings, they may feel narrow, and you should scuff up the soles as soon as you can so you're not ice skating on dry land, but the payoff is huge: comfortable, molded to your foot, classy and timeless shoes you'll end up wearing with wayyyyyy more outfits than you thought you would. I'm thrilled. Give them a chance if you're put off by what high quality box leather feels like at first.

Still Don't Fit
I have tried 3 different sizes/widths of this shoe. One was huge, the other MUCH too small. These were the best, though they don't fit properly. They fall off my feet, and if I put a "cookie" in the heel portion to help keep my foot from slipping out, they become too small in the toe box. I have to wear heavy socks to keep them on, and the shoes pull the socks down at the heel, so by the time I walk a block, my socks are under my feet instead of on them. Additionally, the leather under the kiltie is discolored, as though they had been sitting on the shelf for more than 10 years. I only kept these shoes because they remind me of when I owned a (very comfortable) pair when I was young, and I had my heart set on another pair. I know they'll be in the closet more than on my feet. My enjoyment will probably come from just looking at them, because they are a pretty shoe. The extreme variance in sizing/widths is a problem I've always had with BASS shoes for some reason. I'll try on the same style in the same size and one will fit completely differently from the other. In my opinion, this reflects a serious quality control issue in the manufacturing process. Also, someone mentioned the sole of the shoes are slippery. I found this to be true, but thought it would improve as I walked on cement and got some traction "imprinted" into the sole. No go. They are still very slippery. Next time I'm going to try another brand's penny loafers. These ended up being an expensive mistake.

Nice but order 1/2 to 1 size down
Love how they look!! Classy and authentic! I normally wear US7M for flats and 6.5M for heels. Took the advice to size down by half a size, but still felt a bit too long and have slip off problem. Too lazy to return them so I added padding to the back and seems to work fine. I think if I exchange them for size 6 it should resolve the slip off issue but could also be too narrow which will hurt my feet.

Great Shoe...BUT
I wore these in high school and college in the 60s, back when they made a narrow size. My feet have changed somewhat since then but I still need a narrow. I originally bought a size 7.5 M because I wear that size but it was much too big, length and width. So I exchanged them for a size 7 M. While the length is fine, it was still too wide. So I did what a friend suggested: I soaked them with water and placed them in the sun to dry...twice. I then added a Scholl's insert and they fit fine. But I still wish Bass would make a narrow again.UPDATE: After wearing them several times, they stretched out (as loafers usually do). So I bought another pair, size 6.5, which fit fine. As I live in Florida and wear shorts most all the time, I wear my shoes without socks. On the rare occasion when I do wear pants, I'll wear the other loafers WITH socks. So now I have the best of both worlds!

The heel is pretty uncomfortable. It's weird because when I step I can feel where the base heel ends, which is in the middle of my heel. Other than that I love the shoe. They definitely need to extend the heel a bit further so your heel has a solid base when you step.
