Awesome lights, horrible mounting!
The media could not be loaded. I was one of the very first consumers to purchase this product. In fact, I purchased all three of mine from Amazon when they were first offered for sale. If you've considered purchasing this floodlight, there are a few things that you NEED to know. Let's just get a few things out of the way. First off, are the lights bright? Yes, they are very colorful and bright. My wife and I love the output of each floodlight. I've uploaded a video of my backyard privacy patio. ALL of the lights featured in my video are from Philips (now Signify). My 12 individual bulbs are 3rd gen Philips Hue Color + White. You can clearly see each one of those individual bulbs in the video. The three Philips Hue Discover Outdoor White & Color Ambiance Floodlights are each mounted behind all three of my 4 foot Texas Lone Stars. These floodlights were immediately detectable by my Philips Bridge and I was able to have them working in tandem with my other Philips lights. I have NO complaints about the floodlights performance. The video speaks for itself. You can compare the output of the line-of-sight Hue bulbs to the output of the indirect lighting of the Hue floodlights. With all of the good mentioned about these floodlights in my review, here's the issue. In a word: MOUNTING. The solution for mounting these floodlights are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. For a floodlight of this caliber, the mounting solution is one of the worse I've ever seen. Each light comes with two cheap brackets that mount in a shape that's similar to a plus sign and held together by one center screw and one pivot screw. It gets even worse. If you unbox the floodlights and set them flat on a table or counter top, you will immediately notice that these floodlights are not perfectly symmetrical. The mounts come with two longer type metal screws but the screw holes that are punched into the bracket are totally off center from each other. This causes a secondary issue. It's an additional issue that causes this floodlight to be even more off center when it's mounted up. So, the consumer is left with an issue. Do you want the base of your light to be perfectly symmetrical on the surface to which you have mounted it? If so, your floodlight will be canted off center to one side. It is VERY noticeable. It will look very lopsided like you really messed up on installing your floodlight. So, you are left with a dilemma. Is it possible to have your floodlight facing towards you and appear level / symmetrical (or wherever you plan on facing it)? Yes, but once you do that, the base of the floodlight will now be completely lopsided. Again, it will look like you messed up the install. For me, it was less of an issue because each one of my floodlights are not directly in view and are hidden behind my Texas Lone Stars. Another issue for this light is weather-proofing. There is no back plate, there is no gasket and there is no rubberized sealer that would help keep out the elements. The backside of the floodlight is just open. Again, a floodlight of this caliber and at this price point is unacceptable, especially by today's standards. A gasket or back plate would have cost Philips no more than $3 - $4 to manufacture (maybe even MUCH less than $3 - $4). Instead, Philips wants you to buy some silicone caulking and glop it around the edges of the base of their floodlight. So, I'm at a crossroad here. I can ABSOLUTELY recommend this floodlight based on its' performance and in the same breath, I CANNOT recommend this floodlight to those who truly need an off-the-shelf weather enduring outdoor floodlight. If you can put up with the floodlight being crooked to one side or the other, then knock yourself out and enjoy your purchase. 5 STARS FOR COLORFUL AND RICH FLOODLIGHT PERFORMANCE. 1 STAR FOR AN UNACCEPTABLE MOUNTING / WEATHER PROOFING OUTDOOR FLOODLIGHT.

Fantastic addition
Not sure why there are so many reviews harping on the installation of this product. Before I get to that, some backstory:I am heavily invested in the Hue ecosystem. Thousands of dollars invested. Two “living rooms”, porch and front of house, console table, recessed downlights, BR30’s, regular Philips Hue white and color, you name it I probably have it. Out of all of their products, probably the only issue I have is their technical issue syncing with Alexa and multiple bridges. I digress.Installation was straightforward. I removed a janky motion floodlight that the previous homeowners had installed, so I was installing into an existing internal electrical box.The mounting bracket fit perfectly into the existing screw holes, which were standard exterior lighting setup (porch lights). With this light being about 8 feet off the ground, I installed the mounting plate, extended the two long mounting screws to their max setting, and made an “X” temporarily to get all the wiring done.I loosened the ground screw on the bracket, wrapped the ground wire from the light around the screw, then “hooked” the very thick existing ground to the screw, then tightened it up. Gently let the light dangle from the ground wire as I wired the black and white wires with my own screw taps (really Philips? Those cost like a penny, could’ve included 3 of them). Got everything nice and snug, moved the outer part of the bracket to make the mounting screws level, put the light on it, and handscrewed the two cap bolts on. Hit the switch, light came on! It literally couldn’t have been more straightforward. Do some research, you’ll have trouble mounting this on an addon external box. But if you are replacing a porch light, any monkey can do it and do it well.It had rained the day after I installed it, no issues with water. The light itself is BRIGHT, and unfortunately for me I do not have any other Hue lights to go with it, since it’ll output a single color of a scene. But, I plan on putting a 2m lightstrip on the gutter above and at least give it a little bit of flavor.Easy to adjust with the included hex wrench, very strong and sturdy teeth-system to lock the panel in whatever direction you want.Install? 5/5Light Output? 5/5That’s pretty much all that matters. Yes, Philips could have included those taps to connect the wires. But I have millions of those laying around. Or better yet, use the more than likely ones that were in whatever existing light you had. I would have preferred a way to adjust the head without a tool, but that’s a minor gripe. Doesn’t detract from the power of the light. Works like any other Hue light in the app.Considering installing two more in the front to replace my “porch” lights. It’d probably blind the wife leaving the house in the wee hours of the morning though.
