It's a good Shower Shaving Mirror, what more do you want
So after spending way too much time going to brick and mortar stores and online looking at various fog free shaving mirrors, I committed to this one. The smaller version had great reviews, but I liked the idea of it's slightly larger brother. Nothing to complain about. It is a mirror that is great for shaving in the shower with. I have no issues with fogging, but I placed it close enough to the shower so it always stays at shower temp. Just run it once under shower water on both sides like instructed and you're good to go. In the end, I didn't need a light, a radio, or some crazy mounting system. I just needed a good mirror and portability. This fits the bill. A razor hanger would be a welcome addition, but not attached to the mirror. I am quite okay without it. If you need a good shave mirror, this or it's smaller version may be what you are looking for. Save yourself stress of researching so much and cash too. No need to get wrapped up in the gimmicks of the others. For under 15 bucks shipped, this was one of those things that was money well spent. I think the smaller version is less than 10 bucks. UPDATE 02-03-2015: Since it has been over 2 years now with this mirror, I wanted to provide an update. The mirror itself is still in great shape. It's plastic, so obviously you don't want to use an abrasive to clean it. It has lived in my shower for the entire 2 years. The only issue I have found is that over time, the gray coating on the back of the mirror really wore off. I also noticed that as the coating wore off, the "fog free" aspect started to diminish as well. So it got me thinking that the rear coating plays a major role in the Fog-Free action. Keep in mind that it has been 2 years so for the most part, other than the last few months or so, the mirror has been awesome. THE SOLUTION: I happen to have spray Plasti-Dip laying around the garage...in gray as well. You can get this at Home Depot or Lowes for a few dollars if you don't. A few heavy coats applied to the back of the mirror and the mirror is Fog-Free again. In 2 more years, I will probably do it again. I just wanted to post up a way to bring your mirror back to life without having to buy a new one and throw a perfectly good one into the landfill. UPDATE 02/28/2025: I continue to purchase this shower mirror due to how simple, but more importantly how good it is as a shower mirror. It is now to where we keep one in our guest bathroom and my son has even started using it as well. The clarity is great. If after a while, it gets cloudy from water buildup or starts to fog up a little sooner than normal, just take a dab of toothpaste and rub it in then rinse. That's it! For hanging off of tile in the shower, I have resorted to a hook with a bit more suction. As long this mirror continues to be produced, I'll continue to purchase and use it. The photos I have attached don't really do it justice, but this mirror has been with me for a bit and it is still holding up well. It has fallen a few times and doesn't shatter. It may chip the edge on occasion, but that's after my son has dropped it enough times. It takes a beating and keeps on going. I am not sure if they changed the coating on the back at all since I first started buying this shaving mirror, but it has held up really well. Again, If you're looking for a really simple, but effective shaving mirror, I would buy this one and not think about it any longer. I do prefer the larger of the 2 sizes.

Great replacement for my Broken ShowerTek
I've been shaving in the shower for almost 20 years and this mirror works perfectly. Over a decade or so ago I purchased a shower tek mirror that circulated water around the back of the mirror to keep it from fogging (same basic principle to reduce fogging for temperature differences as this Shave Well) except it was flawed by the fact that the plastic arm (tubing) that holds the Shower Tek and circulates the water eventually failed after just a year or so. After that I realized I could just keep using the mirror but had to use RainX or I used toothpaste or other soap and the warm shower water to keep it fog free long enough to get a shave. Since the Shower Tek tubing arm broke years ago, I've been holding the mirror in one hand while shaving with the other. I've noticed over the years that shaving in the shower after washing my face with a good facial soap did not require shaving cream if the water was warm enough and I had a good razor. I don't rinse the facial soap off, I simply shave it off. So shaving while holding the mirror literally only takes 60 - 90 seconds. Fast forward 10+ years and my Shower Tek fell on the hard tile floor in the shower one too many times and a few weeks ago it cracked and shattered leaving glass shards on the floor of the shower while I was trying to shave. In my search to find a replacement mirror that wouldn't break the bank, would stay fog free for at least a few minutes, and would not shatter into pieces if I dropped it (water and soap = slippery in shower) I was fortunate enough to find this Shave Well Fog-Free mirror. Deluxe Shave Well Fog-free Shower Mirror - 33% Larger Than the Original Shave Well Mirror I see several 1 and 2 star reviews and I just can't wrap my head around those reviews. I am an experienced shower shaver for two decades. I have finally found the perfect shower mirror. It's small enough to hold in one hand while shaving (hanging or positioning any mirror in the shower doesn't give me enough light anywhere) which is perfect since you can move the mirror easily to see what needs to be shaved. Holding it also allows you to easily rinse the front and back to equalize the temperature to keep it fog free during your shave, and also allows a quick rinse in the shower (if necessary) when you rinse the razor. The last thing I do in the shower is shave so that my skin and the mirror have had time to warm up to get a good shave. I've found that the Shave Well mirror stays fog free for much longer than I need it. I have even attached several photos so you can see that my shower door is fogged but the mirror is not. That is after shaving and rinsing off and opening the shower door to get my phone to take the pictures. Anyone that says this mirror fogs up, either has it in the wrong place, did not prep it with toothpaste or facial soap, or hold it under warm water (front and back) long enough (I do it for about 30 seconds, 15 on each side). This is science people and it just plain works. You should also know that I accidently knocked the mirror off it's hook a couple days ago and it crashed to the floor. I'm glad it did not shatter, but it did land right on the bottom left corner and it did chip a tiny piece of the material (I seems to be some sort of plastic or lexan with a mirror coating). The mirror survived the fall with grace and while I have a small chip in the corner, it still stays fog free and I still get a great view of when I'm shaving in the shower. I'll be buying some of these for holiday gifts for my friends that have never experienced shower shaving and all of the benefits that go along with it. If you're at all curious or on the fence, I say take the plunge, you'll be glad you did.

Nice mirror, but with possible defect near the edge
I have had shower mirrors before, and they all work for a bit, then fog up so badly you can't use them, even after cleaning. I have had this one for about 7 months, and with regular cleaning with toothpaste as recommended, and running hot water over it before use, it has worked fine. Sometimes in the winter, I will need to rinse it under hot water again part way through my shave to get rid of the fog, but that's OK. The one concern that I have is that after a few months, it has developed a black area within the reflective area, near one edge, about 2 cm long and 2-4 mm wide. It seems almost as if the reflective coating has worn off or eroded off, or water got inside and removed the coating. The backing material seems intact, and there does not appear to be any separation berween the backing and the clear plastic. The mirror has never been dropped. At this point, it is small and doesn't interfere with the use of the mirror, but if it spreads, it could be a problem. Overall, I like the mirror, but minus one star because of the issue.

Fantastic mirror that works great!
This is my third mirror I've bought from ShaveWell. It's a great product. Very clear and doesn't fog. They also last a long time (even with kids messing with them). I'm sure I will buy more in the years to come.

Eventually won't work
I bought this in 2021, and it's basically not usable. I've tried the toothpaste trick, but this thing fogs up so much that I can't use it.

GREAT shower shave using my Fog Free Mirror from Shave Well
This product works exactly as advertised! Couple seconds under the hot water, and I have a crystal clear, and FOG FREE image of my face to shave with. All that steam really helps soften my course facial hair, so being able to shave comfortably in the hot shower is a game changer. Zero nicks or razor burn. It was super easy to install too. Highly recommend this product & Company!

... upgrading my review of this product based upon the excellent customer service that this company provides
I am upgrading my review of this product based upon the excellent customer service that this company provides. Using the instructions below that I copied and pasted from the email I received, I now can appreciate the quality of this mirror. I have never experienced a company that has this level of excellence. With your purchase of the Deluxe Shave Well Mirror the most important thing to us is that you are delighted with your purchase decision. Quite frankly, we will not be satisfied until you are… From your comments there are a couple of suggestions I can make that may enhance your user experience: 1. Given your comments about the mirror fogging, please allow me an opportunity to explain how the mirror functionally works. * Most houses are kept in a temperature range of 70-75 degrees. * The average shower water temperature is 107.5 degrees. * Fog on a mirror is simply condensation. The air in the bathroom is heated by the shower and becomes saturated with moisture. * When this saturated moist hot air comes in contact with the shower shave mirror (which is still at normal room temperature roughly 30 degrees less), the moisture comes out of the air and condensates on the shower shave mirror surface. * When you hold your Shave Well mirror under the shower stream for a few seconds, the acrylic mirror will warm up allowing for the temperature of the moist air and the mirror itself to equalize. * Once you have held the mirror in the shower spray to equalize the temperature of your shower and the mirror, there can't/won't be any fog/condensation. All of that being said, the mirror works on basic science. The best practical example I can offer is the comparison of a cup of hot coffee and a glass of ice cold soda. If you set them side by side, the cold glass of soda over time will be covered in condensation and the cup of coffee will be warm and dry. As said above, moisture will condensate on the cooler surface. Bringing this example back to your mirror, if your mirror is still fogging after you warm it up under the shower spray then the only answer I can offer is that it remains cooler than the temperature of the warm moist shower. Since the mirror is rather thin acrylic, it should warm up in the few seconds you have been holding it in the warm water of the shower spray. Some additional thoughts that remain would be a.) If the mirror hung so high that there is a direct flow of cool air over the shower curtain/door or whether an air conditioning vent is blowing toward it. If this is the case, I am happy to send you a new hook so that you can reposition the mirror. b.) Research conducted by Gillette has shown that dry facial hair requires the same force to cut as copper wire of an equal diameter. After 3 minutes in the shower, hair has lost 70% of its tensile strength. As such, shaving toward the end of your shower is best on your face…and your mirror. Why? The wall of your shower is cooler than your recently warmed mirror. The later in your shower that you shave…the warmer the wall…the longer the mirror will remain warm…the longer the mirror will remain fog-free. Try it! I am sure you will see a big difference. c.) Make sure you are turning both the front and back of the mirror under the shower water spray when you are equalizing it. This will help in “warming it up” to equalize the temperature. 2.) Regarding the “windshield” comments, try to clean your mirror with toothpaste. While this will not eliminate the water droplets on the mirror (which dry and make water spots), from personal experience I can tell you that once cleaned with toothpaste, the water "sheets" off the mirror and you are left with fewer water droplets on the surface. Simply wet the mirror, put a pea size amount of toothpaste on the mirror surface, wet the pea sized blob of toothpaste (note the emphasis on keeping it all wet…), rub it around a bit and rinse it off well. This cleaning will take care of the water droplet issue for a week or two and your mirror will look like new. As noted on the instruction sheet that comes in the mirror carton: What should I use to clean my mirror? Toothpaste works the best to remove water spots. Simply rub it on and rinse it off. Washing the mirror with toothpaste will virtually eliminate any residual water droplets from the surface of the mirror. BEST COMPANY ON AMAZON....read this...
Yesterday I got an email from The Cumberland Companies LLC...I said what is this about?...Well this is the company that sells the shaving mirror..anyway the emai was about the mirror..on how to remove the plastic covering and how to use it, mount it and take care of it...I thought this was great to get an email telling me the buyer about the product. I am getting the mirror later this creek and will report back...I thought I would mention to everyone about their email..not many companies send you an email about their product...the email is below... Thank you for ordering the Deluxe Shave Well fog free shower mirror on amazon.com! The most important thing to us is that you are delighted with your purchase decision. If there are any questions or concerns about your Deluxe Shave Well mirror when it is delivered, we would appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance. Simply reply to this email to get the personalized service you deserve. Here are some things you will want to know when your mirror arrives: 1. Remove Protective Coating – After taking the mirror out of the box remove the protective coating. The protective coating is beneath the sticker and opposite the silver textured surface. When it is removed, the mirror will be crystal clear. On one of the corners of the mirror run a fingernail or coin gently at the edge of the coating to loosen and then pull. Once you get it started, it comes off easily. 2. Placing the hook – There are two things to consider when placing the adhesive hook, how and where. How to install the hook for best adhesion · Make sure the area you plan to stick the hook is clean and dry. Typical shower residue (soap residue, conditioner splatter, moisture, etc.) will impede the adhesion of the hook. · Clean the surface with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, wipe gently, let dry. Do not use household cleaners. Many household cleaners leave behind a very thin layer of residue that affects how strongly the adhesive will bond to the surface. · Once you have cleaned to area you plan to stick the mirror, please allow enough time for this area to completely dry (remember tile is porous and will absorb moisture). Please allow an hour or so for the wall to thoroughly dry. · When applying the hook to your shower, please try applying constant pressure on it for 10-15 seconds in the clean, dry spot. · For best results, let the adhesive “set” for 24 hours before hanging the mirror on the hook. This ensures that the adhesive has had enough time to build strong adhesion to the wall or surface. Where is the best place The best position for the mirror would for the hanger hole reflection to be roughly in the middle of your forehead when the mirror is hanging. Also, avoid hanging the mirror where there is a direct flow of cool air over or around the shower curtain/door or where an air conditioning vent is blowing toward it. 3. Warm it up - To get that truly fog-free reflection with your Deluxe Shave Well mirror, expose both sides to the shower stream for a few seconds to “warm it up” right before you shave. What is fog and why does it happen? Fog is simply condensation. Shower water is much warmer than the air temperature of most homes. Your warm shower heats the air and it becomes saturated. This warm moist air becomes fog or condensation when it collects on all cooler surfaces – like mirrors. How is my Deluxe Shave Well mirror truly fog free? Shave Well Company shower shaving mirrors are fog free simply by design…and from basic science. In the short time you hold the mirror under the shower spray, the temperature of the moist shower air and the mirror will equalize. With the temperature of your shower and the mirror close to the same, there can’t/won’t be any fog (condensation). No more temperature difference = no more fog! 4. Cleaning and eliminating water droplets - To clean your mirror, toothpaste works the best to remove water spots. Generously wet the mirror, rub on a pea sized spot of toothpaste and rinse it off. Washing the mirror with toothpaste will also virtually eliminate any residual water droplets from the surface of the mirror. Shave Well my friends… Bill Vogel
