Best bang for your buck, grab extra bobbers and weights
About the best bang for your buck, especially for a beginner's rod. I've landed five pound catfish with mine (though you have to hold the rod over the joint used to collapse it to make sure it doesn't pop out). I would recommend replacing the reel with stronger line, the line that comes with it is pretty flimsy, but otherwise this is a good starter kit especially if you grab some extra bobbers and splitshot weights from Wally World on your way out to your fishing spot.

Kids like it
Got this kit foru oldest son and he seems like got a hang of it, decent quality as we don't use it whole a lot, just go together lake fishing once in awhile. Quality seems decent, light enough for him and easy to store away, overall pretty good.

Perfect pole for my kid!
Great little pole. Easy to put together, easy to cast and a good value. The pole also comes with everything you need for your first fishing trip except maybe some worms.

I absolutely LOVE this pole. It cast great & I have caught several fish with it.

Fishing Pole is poor material and quality.
Ok but I noticed if you latch the hook and bend the end of the pole it will stay bent (if left that way for a short period of time). I assume Zebco is using cheap composite material for the pole. It's functional but a disappointing. I would not buy it again.

Great for beginners
My son just started fishing and I lifted him thus rod. He loves it. It's durable and it's a great size. The color is good and good weight. He has been fishing everyday with it and has caught a few good size fishes. It tangled a few times but it could be from the way he cast it. He is a beginner but has been enjoying his experience fishing. I recommend this set. Great starter kit.
