Transformative
One of the best books I’ve read—much more than just about fitness. The book compiles lessons from a huge array of key studies, books, and philosophies and presents each in a very succinct chapter complete with meaningful “do this right now” exercise. I’d often ignore writing exercises or challenges from boooks and keep reading but I told myself I’d stick with these and do exactly as challenged (maybe because the first chapter was all about discipline). I’m so glad I did, as each chapter is transformative. It takes only five minutes or so to read a chapter but a good 1 hour to meaningfully complete each exercise. This makes for a fairly perfect breakdown of one chapter per day, plus action.

very motivating read
I don’t leave many reviews but this book was easy to read and very motivating. It gives you simple exercises to do at the end of each chapter from goal setting to taking a cold shower. When I finished this book I ended up with a better understanding of my values and how I want to prioritize my time.

Easy reading with simple take aways- great for everyone- working out and in general life
Actionable and simple steps at the end of every chapter- much more than a work out book- you could remove "workout" from the title and the concepts apply to everyone. There were a few slow chapters that I didn't find all that personally beneficial in the middle, but quick review. The last chapter was worth the price of the book alone- I've re-read the last chapter and had friends and family read it- it is excellent.

Beyond Motivation A Book to Build A Better Life
I really recommend this book to anyone who is serious about building a better self, over years I have searched for meaning in my life, through spirituality, self-help, and motivational videos. Something was missing, the kickstart to do something to live a better life. I’ve already read Bigger Leaner Stronger; I’m an assiduous reader of Muscle for Life/Legion Athletics articles, I listen every day Mike’s podcast (when it isn’t something new I play old episodes!)Through Mike, I discover books like Principles (Ray Dalio), very interesting life stories like J. D. Rockefeller, Nicola Tesla, Michael Angelo and best of all Alexander the Great. I also get to know weightlifting authority M. Rippetoe (Starting Strength) and Strauss Zelnick among many others. For this new book, in particular, I bought the physical copy, kindle and audible, planning to have a copy anytime I need it. Something I enjoy is that Mike read his own book and I feel I’m reading altogether with a training partner.I just turn 40 and I realize that I need to start building a better future. All the insights I found in Mike's book were eye-opening to me. I never found a method or even a guide with serious bases to start building and kick me into action, everything was a wishful list of philosophical enunciates. In the LBBWM I found what I think I need it, I struggle every day to achieve my dreams, sometimes blindfolded without a plan. Now I have something to use as a personal guide, to build a better me, at home, at work, at the gym, at life. Give it a try, I'm certain you wouldn't regret.I’m building my own home gym, so I’m done with reading for now and start lifting some weights. I’m planning to take the MFL coaching service to clear some doubts about training and dieting, I think it’s going to be a great help. With a great surprise, I found a special gift at the end of the book, I’m not going to spoil the surprise, but I really like it and I’m working on that now.Well done Mike! Thank you for helping us to achieve our better self! :-)

What are you waiting for?
I opted for the Audible version and can say that this is well written and narrated by Michael (Mike) Matthews. I am motivated by this book and will be returning back reflecting on the notes I've taken. Quotes throughout and additional stories are educational/thought provoking. Just purchased Thinner Leaner Stronger. Time to put this into action!

Not what I expected
I gave it three stars because I suppose it had some helpful information in it. I expected a book to help me workout. I got a self help book.In the book you described the greatness of people and how they did amazing things. Tom Brady probably the best quarterback ever but he made it because he worked hard. I agree but he also made it because he was in the right place at the right time. I don't want to know how the super succesful lucky to be in the right place at the right time people made it? How about the other 2000 quarter back want to bees who didn't get that break and had every bit as much or more talent than him, now they are high school PE teachers and still succesful in their own way everyone can't be great or great wouldn't mean much. It would be like Christmas every day. I Want to know how an incredibly average guy can keep going every day. Someone who fights for everything he has including keeping his shotty body in great shape. Then you go on about the Navy Seal once again an elite but with that said are you promoting hurting yourself really I mean if I have to run untill my kidneys stop functioning and my feet break to survive I will find a way but to do it just to finish a race is ludacris. I have spent better than 37 years in the military and respect the elite Specialists like Rangers ad Seals but once again they are only .1 percent of the picture. If I go out and hurt myself to prove a point then the Rangers and Seals can't get anywhere because I wasn't there to fix their airplanes and I can't do that if the person in finance doesn't pay for the jet fuel or the person in sevices doesn't make and supply us with food and so on.Sorry I went on a rant but I really was looking for a book to help me workout. I read and followed bigger stronger leaner bought the 1 year challenge have turned several people on to it and love it. I thought this was going to be in the same category. It was not.I use Legion protein greens and pre workout and love them also turned many people onto them. You said you wanted honest reviews and I debated on reviewing this at all but if you wanted my honest review I respected your other work well enough to give it to you..Thanks Gary
