Not to be read like a novel
This is a book to dip in and out of and ponder the teachings. You can see the tactics of Saddam Hussein, Trump, Churchill, and many other leaders in trying to achieve their goals. It reflects the arcane art of Politics and the brutal nature of war - success and survival but not just in the short term, and that is the trick that many fail to grasp of winning the battle but losing the war. The book shows that these ideas are not new but many in power today have never grasped because they have not been taught such ideas, which are the brutal facts of conflict and why many conflicts have failed (like the USA in Vietnam). Very insightful. It would be an interesting exercise to translate these teachings to a modern warfare scenario.

This book is truly a must have for anyone studying Sun Tzu.
The art of war by Sun Tzu is famously hard to penetrate but through explanation, illustrations and structure "The ultimate art of war" really helps you to get to grips with the subject. The illustrations are very helpful and clear as well as looking good with the striking red and black designs. I wish I had this book when I started first trying learn from Sun Tzu I would be a lot further alone with my understanding. I am very happy to get my hands on this lovely hardback book and would highly recommend it to anyone.

A thoroughly excellent concept, a modern classic of an ancient classic,
I have several copies of Sun Tzu's Art of War and they all have that Oriental mystique and paradox that can make comprehension a chore. This book however breaks down the individual teaching and in doing so, makes them easier to grasp. That, coupled with the war tips and illustration ( which give a flavour of the intended point ) make it much more accessible, to appreciate these ancient writings. This will definitely be my go to addition in my future research.

It’s not what I was looking for
It’s not exactly what I was looking for I was looking for a book that puts the art of war into modern situations. I read this one as I was on holiday and tbh it was actually good and interesting just not what I was expecting.
