Well-made but with a weird gasket
The gasket is 1/4" thick while the cavity is 1/2" deep. Odd until you realize the gasket has a cavity designed for inserting the metal frame (not set inside the cavity). Its a bit tricky to get it to stay in place - once you do, suggest leaving it overnight so it'll stretch a bit. I used gorilla glue in the cavity, then held the rubber in place with 4 large binder clamps until it adhered to the metal edge. Installing over a flat surface it fine, but over bricks, planks, etc., the provided gasket worthless - just get some 5/8" thick rubber and fill that cavity or silicone it in place. The vent itself is rugged and it fits VERY snugly inside a 4" duct. If it's too snug to enter the duct (a problem I had), flatten the 3 holding clips a little. A ring of silicone sealant inside the duct prior to inserting the vent provides a better exhaust seal and eases installation. I also filled teh 1/2" cavity with silicone to firmly seal the vent to the duct. This will force the exhaust air through the port, avoiding moisture build-up against the wall.

OMG - GREAT PRODUCT! VERY EASY TO INSTALL, WORKS GREAT - VERY PLEASED!
Well made, fits like a glove into the 4" vent pipe and super easy to install. We were very impressed with this, just bought 2 more for our rental properties. Looks good, too! They don't really explain how snugly this fits into the vent pipe with the "springs" on the side that pressure fit into your existing pipe. Really nice!! I read some complaints about the flap; it does seem lightweight but we think it will work just fine. Husband suggested maybe taping a washer or something to it to give it a little more weight - we might try that, but want to be sure it will still blow open!! Anyway - very pleased with this product!! Highly recommend!!

Sturdy, excellent quality
I measured my old one that I wanted to replace and being a silly old lady, I measured the length and width of the cover - 6”. After it arrived and I saw how huge it was, I realized I was supposed to measure the round pipe it that it’s meant to cover. Ok, so I sent it back to Amazon and sent my son to a very popular home improvement store to get one there. He came home with the right size, but it was the flimsiest and cheapest piece of crap vent, it has sharp edges on it and was little more than aluminum foil. So brought that back and re-ordered this one in the 4” size from Amazon. Arrived today. Quality is unbelievable. Sturdy, no sharp edges, finished off nicely, heavy, solid, made exceptionally well and will last another 50 years. And, it was less expensive than the flimsy one! Five stars.

Well made - good value - small
This is well made and looks like it will last a long time. It was smaller than I anticipated. Although not listed I confirmed with the seller the rated airflow capacity - 350 m3/hour. This translates to 206 cfm. I bought it for a range hood, but range hoods need 350-400 cfm, so this is too small. I will use it for a bathroom exhaust fan - should work great. Also, the flap does not have a spring to close it. It works on gravity. It would not take much airflow to open the flap.

Best Dryer Vent Cover
I know this was designed for metal pipe only, but I cut the tabs off and used with extra heavy duty flex pipe that I also got from Amazon, talk about a perfect fit. The quality and construction of this dryer vent is the best. I didn't have to do and modification to the house to try to adapt it to fit, is was as if they have made it exactly for my house. PERFECT FIT. This replace the original vent hood that was installed when the house was built in 1986 and they nailed to to the house (we have 5/8 hardi plank (with 10 penny galvanized nails. I highly recommend this dryer vent hood and would certainly buy it again. Best quality material and craftsmanship. Just buy it. B

Looks nice and easy to install.
This stainless dryer vent replaced an old plastic unit. The screw holes were in the same place, so it only took about five minutes to install. The flapper valve opens fully with the dryer on and closes fully with the dryer off. The gasket and cushion make the operation silent. The best feature is the cover, which directs the flow down, keeping the lint from blowing on my car, which is parked beside the wall with the vent.

Great quality and easy to install.
Great replacement for the plastic vent, which was falling apart after only a few years. Easy to install, even though getting the rubber gasket in place took a bit of an effort.

Extremist, but Nice Vent
The rubber seal that interfaces between the vent's outer edge and the house sheathing did not fit well at all. It was too small, required a lot of stretching and kept pulling off the vent's edges. Not a big deal, I used Tite Seal as flashing which is a metalized flashing with a sticky butyl rubber backing. This provided a supple watertight seal. I add two diagonally crisscrossed 1/4"x1/4" galvanized wire mesh screens to the backside for bird, mouse, and bug control(see pics). Finally, I added an 8" long 6" galvanized round vent pipe with a female to female termination to the back of the vent. This pipe was screwed and silicon caulked to the vent side for a robust air/watertight seal. This pipe extension allowed me to easily connect the male end of the microwave hood vent pipe to the other side of my interior finished wall. Because I am using this for a over the stove microwave vent I found it difficult to locate an 8"x8" vinyl block so I added a J channel picture frame around the vent. Even with these modifications I'm extremely happy with the vent because it's built like a tank.
