Art of Vampirella

Great book and nice artwork. You won’t be disappointed

Although it has a nice introductory section devoted to Vampirella's beginnings at Warren, the vast majority of the content of this volume is focused on cover and poster art from the 1990's and later. The Warren section is mostly limited to smaller sized reproductions, while the rest of the volume is heavy on large, full page presentations of the art. I'm guessing Dynamite is holding back larger repro's of the Warren era work for their Vampirella reprint series. Paper quality and weight is closer to what you would expect to see in a magazine rather than a hardcover book, but the color reproduction is reasonably good despite some isolated inconsistencies here and there. Dynamite seems to have been fairly democratic with the range of artists in this book, so the art quality runs the gamut from truly outstanding efforts to some fairly mediocre work. There are plenty of artistic "big guns" on the roster though, so overall the book is a solid value for the economical $20 price.

Overall this book is pretty good. The production and printing are excellent. However, much of the art is too 'cartoon-like' for my tastes. I realize that these were comic book covers, but the ones from the earlier years that were painted were outstanding. My other complaint is that they did not reprint the complete covers from the original series inside and in order. instead there are cover samples on the inside covers and scattered throughout the book. Why the original covers were not included in order is beyond me. If you are a comic/vampty fan, you need this book. If not, you may find it a waste of money.

The definitive collection of Vampirella art, all presented in hardback, from the days of our it's inception as the brain child of James Warren to the last issue; by all the different artists who have graced the graphic novel with their inimitable art, such as Frank de Felita and Boris Vallejo, featuring the sexy vampire that created a cult following and became every teenagers' wet dream, well rendered in all her voluptuous and bodacious glory, in some of the finest illustrations to have graced the graphic novel industry.Highly recommended.

Nice art book with a little bit of history behind Vampirella.

This book rocks. I have a bunch of the comics, but this compilation brings together so much incredible work by a range of artists whose interpretations of Vampirella make you glad they picked up pencils and brushes when they were grubby little kids and kept sketching and slinging paint.

Nice high quality book with some fantastic artwork of vampirella from the last 20 years or so. Very nicely made, glossy pages and hardcover. Would be nice if they made a volume 2 focusing more on the classic 1970's artwork as this only devotes a small portion of the book to that era. A recommended purchase nonetheless.

Mais uma linda edição da Dynamite pata a Icônica e Imortal, em todos os sentidos, VAMPIRELLA. Apenas ressalto que as artes de autores mais contemporâneos não se compara as dos clássicos e criadores da personagem dos anos de ouro, 60 e 70, como José Gonzales e Gonzalo Mayo. Vale a pena adquirir mas dê preferência para o volume Warren Years.
