Back to the good stuff
When I first started custom Low Voltage wiring, the company I worked for had the basic LSD threaded fish/glow rods. That was many years ago. Since then, I have broken, lost, or had stolen, many many different brands of "rods". More recently I have been using Klein's cheesy, cheaply made, splintering pieces of junk because of the convenience of picking them up at the "Depot". I have been complaining about them for quite sometime and they finally figured it out recently by making them better, quite impressive actually, but a little bulky if you ask me. Okay, now with that out of the way...I broke down last week and logged on to Amazon and figured, "What if I could find some Labor Saving Devices here". I found this set and was impressed with the accessories included. I ordered and received in 5 days. Instantly, out of the package, the quality I had been separated from for years was prevalent. Even the container used to store them in is better quality than the rest. There is one luminescent stick that when allowed to gather some light glows very well for a good 10+ minutes, and really one is all that is necessary on any pull. The lighted tip is fantastic and can even be attached to the t-grid hopper tip. It says whisk attachment in the details, which has kind have been the standard on the LSD rods, but mine came with a durable hard plastic tip that I actually like better. It's always nice to have a snake chain and I am super stoked about the inclusion of the wire sock. You will only be able to attach one RG-6 or smaller type wire to it, but I just tape the others to it an voila, it pulls through with ease. The quick connect is solid and makes life super easy and with the pick attachment to pop them apart is a breeze! No more threaded rods for this guy. This is hands down the best set of sticks I have ever owned, and I will never ever go back to any other brand, ever. LSD makes all the right stuff that this A/V Professional Systems Integrator needs to get the job done quickly, cleanly, and with ease! Thanks LSD!!!

Not as good as the first one.
The first one we used had ball bearings for connection. These use the old style latch and we’ve already broken one on the first job.

Wow, I wish I would have bought these a long time ago!
Wow, I wish I would have bought these a long time ago. Worth the investment! Well made and should last a long time. And as others commented, the 'quick release' isn't that quick. I find that a knife blade or cable tie will be sufficient to depress the 'latch' clip to take the segments down when you're done with your cable run. The 'glow stick' segment is easy to see above ceilings and stays in it's glowing state much longer than others that I've used. And that wire sock accessory is fantastic (if you run smaller cables for data/telco). I should use much less electricians tape. Hey, I bet I can afford to buy more coffee with the savings! They could come up with a better way to store them. The square plastic tube they use to ship these in isn't the best way to store them. The day after I received mine, I went to the local HD store and bought a piece of PVC pipe and end caps to make my own storage tube.NOTE: (only 3 stars due to the package being damage, other wise I'd give this a 5 star) To shipper/seller the package was a bit damaged when I received it. No damage or loss of contents other than the end cap on the square tube was missing and the tube itself was bent. I wasn't exactly the happiest guy when the UPS man came to the door.

Update: Very useful and well made, manufacturer gave GREAT service
Note: See Update below.I bought this system AFTER spending several hours fishing some CAT 5 cable from attic to lower floor. I tested the rods in the same situation and see that the job would have been trivial rather than frustrating had I bought this BEFORE the job. I look forward to the next test.My only disappointment is that my package was missing a few components, most notably the lighted bullnose tip. I can buy this separately, but it's rather expensive. It would have made a nice extra in the original purchase. My package was also missing some extra bullnose tips, and a finger-pick gadget used to release the inter-rod connections. I didn't want the hassle of repacking the rods and retuning to Amazon, so I'll just live with my disappointment.Otherwise, this is a very well made and useful wire-fishing system. Just be sure to check the package when it arrives.= = = = = = = = = = = = = =Update: Oct 13 2012: Rather than live with disappointment, I contacted the manufacturer via their website's email support to ask for help. I was delighted with the prompt reply, and even more delighted when the missing parts were shipped to me right away. So I've revised the product review to 5 stars based on both the high quality product as well as the excellent customer support from Labor Saving Devices. Don't go cheap when buying wiring rods: get the good stuff by choosing Labor Saving Devices.

Great tool, good value
I bought this rod set about a month ago, and it's already paid for itself several times over. I'm a low voltage contractor, and often need to run wires up or down a wall, across drop ceilings, etc. The whisk tip is great at bouncing over the t-bar ceiling grid, and with the lighted tip, it's easy to see how things are progressing. I'm not too crazy about the quick-release connections. They can be a bit tricky to disengage sometimes, and you need to really make sure that they've "clicked" into place, or else the rods can come apart, and potentially get lost in the wall cavity. One of my favorite things about it is the fabric "sock" thingy that you slip over the cable to pull. No more taping! Awesome! That's a very small complaint, though. I'm very pleased with this tool, and it has saved me lots of time on several jobs already.

Great item, but does not include fish hook attachment
Great product! It paid for itself immediately, as I was able to relocate a light switch and run a bunch of wires without having to call an electrician. The rods have the perfect amount of flexibility and stiffness needed to precisely move them around behind the walls. The only disappointment is that they didn't include a J-tip (the fish hook) - you have to buy it separately. Kind of a surprising omission.
