Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Vol. 3 (3)

Spoiler-Free Review
In Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma, Vol. 3, the class has a new challenge: a cooking camp where perhaps half of the students will be expelled. And Soma has a new rival: a half-Japanese, half-Italian boy who grew up serving patrons in a cheap trattoria in Italy, just the way Soma did in Japan. They battle it out to see who is the better chef, and the loser must kowtow to the winner. After that, the remaining students must make a flawless recette, but what will Megumi do when all that's left is oxidized cauliflower? After the end of the main story, there's a short by Shun Saeki, "Your and My Romance Counseling." There is also a side story about Soma's rival that only lasts a handful of pages.I definitely liked the main story. This is my first cooking manga, so I can't exactly tell how derivative it is. Judging just based on the recipes, the art and and the story, it's great. I'm puzzled by the inclusion of the romance one-shot. When I buy a Food Wars! book, I want it to be all Food Wars!, but at the same time, I really liked "Your and My Romance Counseling." It is a cute, little one-shot that probably won't go anywhere. In the end, I liked it as much as the main story, and overall, I liked the volume. ****1/4

Great condition
Ordered for my son. It arrived timely and in great condition. Book looks unread.

Too many side stories, not enough main story chapters
The volume ends just as it was getting good. If only the space allotted for the side stories was used to add one more main story chapter, and then it would have been a lot more substantial.

Food Wars Vol. 3
In this volume, Soma & the gang are at the training camp for their school. It's 6 days & 5 nights of hard fought battles. Around every corner is the chance to be expelled from school.

Awesome manga with recipes.
Great manga continuing from the first two. I've yet to try any of the recipes, but all these Food Wars! manga have recipes for some of the dishes made. They seem legit, but ingredients aren't always easy to come by. Really neat addition though (Like getting manga and a cookbook). This volume includes a nice little short at the end too.

Beautifully drawn volume cover, Great series!
If you keep up to date with the manga on a weekly basis, this volume contains chapters 15 through 21, which is the beginning of the Hell Training Camp arc. The volume also includes the Takumi Aldini side story, "Cuoco in Italia" as well as Saeki Shun's WSJ debut Oneshot "Your and My Romance Counseling". As usual, it also comes with certain recipes featured in the chapters.Overall it's been a fun and great series so far. The artwork for the volume's cover is beautifully drawn.

Vol - 3 What a wonderful journey so far.. i just love this series i know when i finish it im going to be heartbroken because each book i pick up makes me want to read another one to see what happens next. Which coming from someone who usually likes the naruto battle style thing or the jojos bizarre adventure style its a little different

Good, but damaged
The series is incredible and I fully recommend it, but the book was damaged on delivery, with two of the front corners torn.
