My husband and I have been on a diet and have done very well (over 25 pounds) and these GHIRARDELLI CHOCOLATE SQUARES are a regular part of the foods we eat.The reason we chose them is that a) they are dark chocolate and dark chocolate has health benefits; and b) they scratch that itch for something sweet.One square is 52 calories! And remarkably we've found that they kill that craving for something sweet. My husband never eats more than one; and choco-holic that I am, I still have never eaten more than 2. So a splurge is 104 calories... less than one tiny bag of chips.SUMMARY$21 dollars is a great price for our area. We bought the pack of 6 because we can share with the kids and still have enough for the ones that we consume as part of our weight maintenance. Tasty, quantity controlled, and with health benefits.

Forgot to buy the three other ingredients to make s'mores? No problem.Ghirardelli has consistently been a quality producer of chocolate. This particular percentage (60%) allows for the rich natural taste of the chocolate to come through without being too bitter. None of that cocoa butter nonsense going on here. Even better, the chocolate comes in nicely portioned squares for maximal convenience.Six bags is probably a lot for one person, but having some extra chocolate on hand is an excellent way to make friends. I brought two bags on a road trip, and the mood lifted dramatically once I whipped out the bags. The six bags come packaged in one box, complete with air bag for cushioning. They are protected by a plastic outer bag for perfect transportation.Other reviewers have mentioned the wrappers having strange messages or staleness, which made me pretty apprehensive. I am happy to report I have not experienced any complaints whatsoever. What are you waiting for? Get some Ghirardelli chocolate now!

I'm not entirely sure the proper rating to give to this. On the one hand, I buy a lot of 60% Ghiradelli (from another source) and I love it. For those who want to transition to dark chocolate, this is a good place to start (vs. the more intimidating 85% or 95% cacao). Tasty and good for you, too. (Whoa!!)On the other hand, Amazon screwed this one up by sending stale chocolate. I knew that something was wrong the moment I bit into the first piece and subsequently figured it out when I found coupons in the bags that had expired quite a few months prior.So, 5 stars for the chocolate and I guess I'll just leave it at that. No reason to ding the good rating for good chocolate just because the merchant messed it up a bit.Pros: yummy and good for youCons: might turn you into a chocolate snob ;)

We ordered this chocolate to give out as a "door prize" of sorts. Just a nice little thing to say "welcome, glad you are here". The chocolate is good (as Ghirardelli usually is) although it isn't my favorite dark I have ever had, so I gave the chocolate itself 4 stars.The packaging on the individual wrappers is incredibly tacky though. There are sayings like "A reward for beating my best friend in tennis...again" and "Gets me over the hump between breakfast and lunch" and the worst/least professional in my opinion: "A delicious start to Friday night happy hour." Come on! Are you kidding me? This just seems like something I would expect to find on a Hershey's Kisses wrapper (if it could be done) but not what I expect from a quality company like Ghirardelli. We gave these away last year and they didn't have any "clever messages" on them and the packaging was very tasteful and classy. Unfortunately we can't return and reorder at this point, so we are stuck with these. I will be a bit embarrased to pass these out this year. 0 stars for the packaging.

I meant to order Ghiradelli dark. chocolate filled with rasberry. I ordered these instread. They are very dark and not so sweet. One sqaure is semi sweet. Here is what I did. I melted a square in a cup of coffee and added a packet of equal. What an awesome holiday beverage. I am so happy with my purcharse this could make excellent hot cocoa, brownies and specialty coffee as I have detailed. It will definitely quench a chocolate craving. I am most pleased.
