In the early 1950s, they began manufacturing clutches for General Motors Corporation (GM). In 1952, Wagner began manufacturing clutches for Ford Motor Company (FMC). In the late 1950s, they began manufacturing clutches for Chrysler Corporation (FC). In 1960, Wagner began manufacturing clutches for Datsun Incorporated. In 1967, they were acquired by GKN. In 1969, WAGNER was registered as a trademark in the United States and Canada. In 1970, WAGNER became a part of GKN. In 1979, the company bought the design rights for their first power transmission product from Jawa Works Limited of Austria. In 1982, they bought the design rights for their first modern brake from Lockheed Martin Corporation of America. In 1985, they became a part of Lucas Industries Limited of England. In 1995, GKN spun off WAGNER as an independent company and listed it on NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol WWAV and then again on the London Stock Exchange under the symbol BWAI in 2008.
