Q: Could you scale the noise from 1 to 10?

I would rate it a 1. The only sound we hear is when it clicks on and off to maintain the temperature. It is not a loud click for most, in fact the only one it bothered was our newborn grand-daughter during the phase that she was learning to put herself to sleep. She is almost two and I can attest that she is a very light sleeper. I use these both at home and the office because they are safe, reliable and warm the whole room.

Q: What does oil filled mean? Do I have to put a special oil in it for this to work? Sorry for the ignorant question hahah.

These heaters are permanently filled and sealed with oil. No maintenance is necessary. The one I have now is about three years old and still works well. The room I use it in is about 12’x14’. This is the coldest room in my ranch house in the winter. It takes about 15-20 minutes to warm up. Then it just maintains the heat you set it on. I plan on getting another for my teenage daughter’s room.

Heater elements are made of metal. Casters are synthetic.
