fishpond Cross-Current Chest Pack

I was very happy with my smaller waist/chest pack from Fishpond and it has served me well over many seasons. I really wanted a little something extra to carry water, lunch, and a rain poncho. This is gonna work very well. I was surprised at how well it fit. I am a big fella, 6'5 300lbs with broad shoulders and this thing has room to spare. The magnetic from pouch is really convenient and the zipper compartment will carry all I would ever need fly wise. My only cons are that the circular clasps will not work with other Fishpond items that have the traditional clasps. Would have been fun to Frankenstein my two packs together, but I really do not need that much stuff with me.

Loved all the pocket room and also the magnetized pocket. That is a solid addition. The only thing I feel could make this product any better would be if it had more outside connection parts. (Places to hook on additional pieces) I lost a knife out of the front pocket on the first day of use. But I chalked that up as a learning experience. Now I use a Bungie cord type thing to secure on outside tools. (line snippers, and plyers). But I wish I had a little more room for more things to hook onto. It has held up through multiple uses so far. In fact, I think it is getting more comfortable the more I "break it in". I love this thing and will be using it for the foreseeable future. Fishpond makes a great product.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I love this pack. I'm a chest rig guy and this is the perfect size for what I do. With the option to throw it on a back pack and extend my range. Very well built and easy to use. Fits what I need plus more without being bulky.

Really like the fit, feel and usability but agree with other reviews on one thing that would make it perfect. There needs to be more tabs or loops (like the 2 bottom ones, these are very durable and look built to last) for attaching a tippet spool holder, nippers, & forceps. The square tabs with multiple connection points on either side are intended for this, but I'm concerned with their durability, particularly for items like forceps that I use repeatedly. For example, I like to hang my forceps off of a coiled lanyard and tuck them into a side loop for easy access and not hang down around my waist. There are no loops really for that on this pack, so I have to tuck it into the front pocket and the mesh front of that is probably going to tear over time. Would love some extra loops like those on the bottom added to the sides. I do plan on buying the larger backpack for longer hike in trips but the included one is fine for shorter day drips. Enough room for lunch, a water bottle, & a few extra things but not extra clothing (i.e.-rain jacket) or supplies.

I had been using a Sling Pack for years and recently switched to this pack, and glad I did. The front compartment (magnetic) is pure Genius. Larger area is well thought out. Notice a big change in comfort, specifically less shoulder strain. The only negative to me is I found it difficult to put my Fish Pond net into the back of the pack in the net holder, but there is a D ring so use a retractable lanyard just fine. Besides, no sense losing a $150 net! Great pack. 5 Stars

This is everything I expected. Fit is comfortable and access is easy. Fits high on chest so can wade deeply with chest waders and see my flies when opening the front pockets. The magnetic closing pocket is the best thing that ever happened to a fishing pack. Pocket in back fits my bug spray, rain coat and bottle of water. Speaking of water bottle, I wish they made an external holder for this pack.

Great chest pack lots of room and comfortable.
