Felled 8in Straight Draw Shave Tool Woodworking Debarking Hand Tool

I bought a slab of walnut and need to debark it and after reviewing a few products decided on this. Works really well and is sturdy. I used it right out of the box and did not bother to sharpen it any further and it worked perfectly. After using this most of my major prep is done and only need to do some lite sanding.

Appears very durable. I reshaped after use and continued to work well. Cover was a very nice touch.

This draw knife does the job for me. I'm happy with my purchase. Good price ($25)and solid tool. I'm using this to strip bark from cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus). The branches are useful around my garden. I jut want to be clear that my requirements are pretty basic. This tool is working well for me. The wood handles provide a comfortable grip and plenty of control to angle the blade as needed. The blade arrived sharp enough for immediate use. It's holding an edge well. The blade is painted, which is I consider both a plus and a minus. A plus when it comes to rust protection. A minus when it comes to re-sharpening because the paint needs to be removed where it gets in the way.

I started a little side hustle with Black Walnut live edge slabs for shelves, tables, etc... I had really struggled getting the bark removed from the edges until I found this gem. I clamp the board to my table and this draw knife does an awesome job of removing the bark quickly and efficiently without gouging the wood. I'd highly recommend this for removing bark from wood slabs.

The draw knife was built sterling was sharp when I received it and continues to be sharp long after use I like that it came with a edge guard and that it’s made out of heavy carbon steel

I will update as to the use and durability of this tool in the weeks to come, but as for first impressions... Well made. Quite dull. will need to sharpen polish and hone to be serviceable. Not sure of the quality of the heat treat. Skeptical..... So, here are my final thoughts: Once I sharpened the blade it did quite well in the bush. I used it for a variety of tasks such as de-barking Pine, poplar, and maple. I used it to shave down a pine trunk to provide a bushmans work bench. All this is rough work and it did the job well enough. It did not hold a keen edge, though the edge did not roll or become too dull to function. Handles stayed tight.

I am posting for the Man in my Life. He used to do this for a Living, year's ago and he said that this draw knife is as good (better, because it's brand new :D) as the one he used everyday, at work!! So he already knew how to use and sharpen, but he said that it will be quite a while before he NEEDS to!! Great tool for someone who knows what they are doing-if You are using 1st time-definetly do Your homework on using-very sharp You NEED to know how to properly use!! Thank You to this company for making such a durable and effective product!!

bought to peel bark off of home-grown walking sticks. Does that better than I expected. Sharp & easy to use.

Exactly as described, works great. After using awhile give it a quick sharpen with a good file which only takes a few seconds.

Packaged well, came with blade gaurd. Sharp and ready for work. Worked as it should.

Seems well built, sharpness out of the box though was about a 1/10.. Sharpened it myself and works good.
