As a first timer who’s never done this before, it was actually much easier than I thought. Definitely overwhelming at first, but YouTube videos helped. The shell itself feels very soft and fit perfectly. The kit came with extra pieces of everything in case you lose any from your original Joycons. It even came with black replacements for the inner SL and SR buttons so they aren’t the original color. The screwdriver sort of stripped a couple screws, but this was also my first time so it could just be user error. Overall, 10/10.

I should have read the instructions more clearly prior to purchasing. It is a three hour assembly.

I looked into this product as a replacement for my original casings (I messed up the finish on my grey joy-con pretty badly; was not aware how alcohol could destroy the matte!) After some searching, I decided to pull the trigger on the White casings.I can honestly say that I have no regrets. This casing feels better than the original, cheap, plastic-y feeling ones. These are soft, and feel more luxurious than you would expect. I cannot sing enough praises for the quality of material; it makes the Switch feel better in your hands.The replacement buttons are a bit different, but it is up to you whether or not you'd like to install those. I personally opted to keep the original face buttons but replace the shoulder buttons. The shoulder buttons have a more mechanical feel than the original, but I like the click-y feeling these new ones provide.Installation was relatively easy, but it requires lots of patience and just a little bit of experience with electronics. I highly recommend watching a video on the process first in order to gauge whether or not you can handle it. You may also want to look into purchasing your own tri-wing and phillips screwdrivers, as well as tweezers to deal with ribbon cables, especially if you plan to switch casings or do more mods again in the future.All in all, I am highly satisfied with the product and hope to use these for a long time.

The actual parts are great and the video was helpful for a figuring out the harder to take-apart sections, but the tools they send with them are garbage. It came with two screwdriver bits and both of them chipped at the end from just taking the original screws out.The end result is very nice, but I'd suggest getting a different screwdriver to use. Note that you can't use a regular screwdriver, cause Nintendo doesn't use the regular Phillips head kind of screws.

Extreme rate is my favorite company to use for joycon shells. The solid colors have a nice matte feeling which is soft to touch but still have texture that doesn’t make it slippery. Easy to install and includes all the materials needed to change shells.

For reference, I purchased the white shells, and they're the primary focus of this review.So, the title pretty much summaries everything. These shells are "just okay". They feel fine to hold, and the white color looks fine and all, but you can tell something just isn't right here. First off, the backs of the shells are just slightly over-molded, causing the shells to bow a bit in the back. Nothing devastating, but it is noticable when viewing the joycon from the side. Second, and this will only affect a few people, is that the shells are not a very opaque shade of white. When the light shines on them just tight, you can tell the plastic is a bit more see-through it should be (think plastic milk jug). And if you, like me, installed an LED backlight kit, sadly the LEDs shine through the plastic.All in all, they aren't terrible, but not something I would purchase again.

So i came into this totally blindfolded, never in my life had i changed the housing of ANYTHING… but i knew i wanted white joycons to replace my OG neon ones, and so i decided to purchase these and hopped on youtube for some guidance (and by that i mean a 13min video of a guy completely rushing through the process) nonetheless, with the little -to no- experience that i had and the little -to no- guidance recieved… i would say i did great! The shell itself was a perfect fit, it seems pretty nice quality and im really happy with it… i bought a clear case for the joycons and the switch just to give it that extra protection since i saw some comments ab discoloration in some areas or it looking dirty, and hopefully the case will do the job to keep these as clean looking as they are now! definitely will hop on here and update after some time!

Exelente cambio para la carcasa original, queda perfecto y es facil de colocar(dependiendo de cada quien puede ser mas o menos tardado, yo nunca los habia desarmado y tarde alrededor de 40-50 min en cabiar ambos joycon). El material si se siente diferente al original, pero aún asi esta muy bien. Todo encaja perfectamente y tiene el plus de venir con herramientas para desarmar el joycon.Muy recomendado!!!

Vraiment top pour changer le style de ses joycons! Attention cependant: il faut être à l'aise avec l'idée de démonter complètement les joycons afin de pouvoir changer la coque.

Die Joycon Gehäuse werden mit allem geliefert was man für den Umbau benötigt. Mit ein wenig Fingerspitzengefühl gelingt dies auch sehr leicht. Der mitgelieferte Schraubendreher ist tatsächlich auch sehr gut zu gebrauchen. Ich empfehle dennoch, eine Pinzette bereit zu legen, da die Schrauben verdammt klein sind.Die Gehäuse fühlen sich wertig an und halten an der Switch perfekt, ohne zu wackeln.Für mich ein top Produkt, welches ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen kann.

Delighted with the white shells. Also used eXtremeRate lilac buttons to redo a pair of orange/purple joycon's and eXtremeRate cherry blossom pink buttons and white shells to redo the original white joycon's as I felt the original looked grey white. EXtremeRate even provide YouTube tutorials for their items. Take your time, be gentle and go along with the YouTube tutorial and you can't go wrong. Good quality, arrived when expected and great customer service by providing tutorials on how to switch them over. Very happy customer.A few reviews mentioned discolouration or paint chipping, but this can be rectified by putting a clear protective case on. I noticed the original nintendo shell colours had started scratching away so a clear case was needed even before switching to eXtremeRates products.
