Maison Goossens: Haute Couture Jewelry

If you are someone who collects or likes well made paste jewelry, this is most certainly the book to have, from works done with Balenciaga to the infamous great jewelry done for Coco Chanel which are so widely collected and sought after, this is the man who helped create and manufacture it all. Interesting read indeed.

This is a great Jewelry Book to own for " Haute Couture " fashion jewelry. " Piece de Resistance" is The Best of the Lot. ****

This is a fascinating in-depth book about artisan goldsmith Robert Goossens and particularly his relationship with Chanel which is why i wanted to read it - Chanel gave him great scope to create her jewellery and it is a great study of how this freedom and his imagination and skill created some of her very sublime jewellery; with lots of reality about both of them. It is also an informative study on jewellery making and starts when Goossens was very young to his old age and coincided with his recent death. Wonderful photographs and a stunning story of talent.
