The altimate self-reliance, Dehydration. This is a cookbook you will need to get started.
Tammy Gangloff really put her heart and soul into this dehydrating cookbook and it shows. You will LOVE this cookbook because it is 26 pages of information and 312 pages of recipes. She covers all kinds and types of fruits and vegetables that you can dehydrate. Some of which I never knew you could do. She also covers nuts, jerky (all types of meat), and fruit leather, (you know fruit roll ups and alike). She shows you how to make your own instant soup mixes, snacks, and trail mix and much, much more. There are three major forms of preserving food: freezing, canning, and dehydration. You can only pack so much in your freezer. If the power goes out you can lose your food when it thaws out. Canning, allows you to store your harvest for years but then you are left with the bulkiness and storage of the mason jars. Dehydration is the ultimate form of food preservation. You can dehydrate your food, vacuum seal it and store it for years. Because you eliminate the water content your dehydrated food becomes light in weight. Then all you have to do is add water to your food and it becomes rehydrated. You can store a year's supply of food in a small plastic tote that you can slip under your bed or store in your closet. If the power goes out all you have to do is add some of your dehydrated food to an existing meal to make it taste as if you are in a restaurant and not roughing it. While others are running to the store to snatch up what supplies they can find, you will be home enjoying what you already have. Here is a quote from Tammy Gangloff that really hits home for me, "If everyone kept a stocked pantry and practiced self-reliance this craziness wouldn't exist." What better way to help fill your pantry with dehydrated food that you made yourself. So if you have a garden with an abundance harvest or purchase a surplus foods from the Farmer's Market, don't forget to dehydrate.

The fruit leather's amazing and surprisingly low sugar. Fantastic stuff!
Oh my gosh! I wouldn't have thought to use my dehydrator to make fruit leather, but it's amazing, especially the peach mango! And it's really low sugar content - only 1 Tablespoon for every 2 cups of fruit! We have fruit trees and we're avid hikers, so this is a game changer for us. My food processor can handle 12 cups at a time, and so can the dehydrator, so I scale the recipe way up (I think 6X).The second and 3rd picture show my peaches off the tree, and dehydrated per the book, ready for fruity oatmeal later on.If you don't have a dehydrator yet, I absolutely love this one. Excalibur 3926TB Food Dehydrator, Black

I'm hurricane ready, now.
I live in Florida and when Hurricane Irma threatened Florida this year, I went to buy canned goods the week before she hit. The stores were already out of canned goods even though we still had a week to go. But the stores still had ample supplies of Jerky of all kinds. I loaded up on everything I could. This got me to thinking, I never even thought about buying jerky but jerky can sit on the shelf just like canned goods can. The more I thought about it I decided to buy a dehydrator to make up my own jerky and be able to use more of my frozen food (in case we lose power). I really hate trying to cook all that food in my fridge before a storm, but what else can I do? I don't won't to lose any of it and it is better to cook it than it goes to waste. While I was looking here on Amazon for dehydrators, I seen this cookbook so I ordered it, too. I'm still waiting on my dehydrator but my book arrived today. Just glancing through this book I see a lot of things I never even thought of. For hurricanes we have a butane stove, camping lanterns, canisters to hold water, and battery operated fans in case the power goes out but never really put much thought in the food, except canned goods. Up until Hurricane Irma we never lost power during a hurricane before. And although that was only 10 minutes during the intense part of the storm, stores are not really restocked with food for about 2 weeks after a hurricane has come through. With this cookbook my family and I will truly be ready for next years Hurricane Season.

Waste of pages with repeating information
In my opinion, it's not worth it, over 50% of the book is the same page duplicated with a different heading for fruit / Vegetable. A one page chart would replace over 100 pages. It fell short of the hype. If it was a Nice chart with a recipe booklet would be more helpful for the new dehydrator owner. However, it was helpful to get me started and I do use it as a reference once in awhile. This book maybe more helpful to others.Pros: Guide for how to slice, Dehydro time, recipes, some do's & don'tsCons: Waste of pages with repeating information. Tells you to coat everything with Lemon juice or citric acid but leaves you hanging to figure it out on your own. So why do I buy this book?

I dislike wearing gloves so I just make sure my hands ...
This one was a gift. I own a copy of this myself.I find the book helpful. I think the author may have gone a bit overboard when it comes to cleanliness. For example, I dislike wearing gloves so I just make sure my hands are clean.Maybe I tend to over dry things but I have found most of my drying times are quite a bit longer than the author recommends. I live on the west coast of Oregon where the humidity is normally quite high. I'm pretty sure this contributes to the extended drying times in my Excalibur dehydrator..There are quite a few recipes in the book. The only ones I have really used are for beef jerky. All in all a pretty good book.

Ultimate dehydrator book
I have been drying food for years now and still find this a great book, with plenty ideas on how and what I never thought of.It explains it all from simple drying herbs to start up to making fruit leathers, jerky, backpacking and camper food, bread and crackers, snacks, cup a soup, stews, chili's...... Even for the slow cooker it has recipes. There is also a section of main dishes, salsas, pickles.Every time I go read in it, I find more interesting stuff to make.It is an American book, but there is an metric equivalent table in the back so you will not have any difficulties. As the title says, this is the ultimate dehydrator book on the market, you do not need any other book if you have this 1.

An excellent useful book.
I really struggled to decide which dehydrator book to buy after reading all the reviews. I am so pleased I chose this one as it has such a wide range of food in it and many methods and uses. It is well laid out and I find it easy to find my way around it.

The perfect Dehydrator Cookbook.
My daughter bought me a dehydrator appliance for Christmas, and then bought me this book for my birthday. I'm so glad she did, and I can't wait to try out some of the recipes inside. This cookbook is very concise and easy to read and use. I would recommend it to everyone interested in food dehydration techniques.

Very comprehensive book
I've only read, well browsed throug this and yet to make anythingSeems a really good starter book and I hope to actually use it rather thanyet another reference cook book. Some really good ideas and recipesfor making instant foods. Ie. Dehydrated soups, meals for camping,Motor home meals etc that you can simply prep, dry individualingredients, pack and then simply add water to to creating meal. It's like rocket or space food 😂Fingers crossed, I use it so I can use the dehydrator for morethan just fruit 🤞
